Folks here might get all up in arms over this but they fail to realize the cultural differences between the US and India.
I suppose a person here might be treated likewise if he/she were suspected if slaughtering and consuming their neighbor's domesticated animals like cats, dogs, etc..

Ten or fifteen years ago, a movie came out called Porn & Chicken. It was based on a true story about a club at an ivy league university that would meet to eat chicken and watch (and discuss) porn movies. In the movie, the existence of the club became public knowledge and a TV reporter was interviewing the president. She asked him, "Why 'Porn & Chicken?'" He said, "Because porn is naked people having sex. And, chicken is delicious."
I don't think a mob would form if someone ate a cat. If true, how do you explain the fact that Chinese restaurants still exist?
I had a vegetarian once ask me "Do you know what they do to these poor defenseless creatures." I said "no but whatever it is, it is delicious and I need the recipe."

Longhorn Steakhouse, before it was bought out by some food conglomerate and turned to the craphole it is today, used to have "eat a Vegetarian" shirts that I always found funny.
I probably wouldn't function well in India - I've had vegetarian FB friends 'unfriend' me due to the number of posts I make about my grilling / smoking of beef and pork.
Don't recall the comedian, but during a rant about the PETA-types he said, "If God didn't want us to eat animals he wouldn't have made them out of meat."
Heard another comedian say, "I'm not a vegetarian because I love animals. I'm a vegetarian because I hate plants."

Could not agree more. It used to be worth the trip, and the money. They evidently reduced the grade of meat they serve and followed up by replacing their "chefs" with "cooks". A step down, for sure.
Thread hijack time. Name the best restaurant in your immediate area to get a good steak.
Mine is Crazy Horse in Argo. Fine eating.
