FIFYThat's good, he will always be 3rd to Coach Bryant and Coach Saban.
ETA: Seriously, this looks like a hissy fit retirement. An absolute guess: He was asked to retire when the season was over and he said why not retire now then.

I hated it for him that his best USCe team happened to be 2010. Would have been nice to see him win an SEC title there.Holtz said the Spurrier would never win an SEC Championship at USC, I kind of hate that he was right
I say Corso.I haven't read the thread, so SIAP, but he is the logical replacement for Holtz at ESPN. Quicker wit...
Hadn't thought of that, would be fantastic.I haven't read the thread, so SIAP, but he is the logical replacement for Holtz at ESPN. Quicker wit...
I'm confused, though. Who was the third head coach fired?Brett McMurphy @McMurphyESPN 5m5 minutes ago
Update: In last 48 hours, 3 head coaches fired, HBC retiring, an AD resigns & starting QB on No. 8 team out for year because of PEDs #ugh
I didn't like him, either. I will still miss him and I can't explain that!Personally, I never liked Spurrier. However, that doesn't mean that I ignore his many accomplishments.
Am I alone on this?
Edsall was fired from Maryland yesterday or Dan McCarney from North Texas.I'm confused, though. Who was the third head coach fired?
USC (Sarkisian), Maryland (Edsall), and North Texas (McCarney).I'm confused, though. Who was the third head coach fired?
Is Holtz still on ESPN often? Admittedly, I haven't been watching as much ESPN since they have started pushing "personalities" like Kanell and Galloway, but I can't remember seeing Holtz on ESPN in a while.I haven't read the thread, so SIAP, but he is the logical replacement for Holtz at ESPN. He was a good coach...but you could argue that he should have won more titles while at UF...they dominated the SEC for a while.Personally, I never liked Spurrier. However, that doesn't mean that I ignore his many accomplishments.

I think it's perfect for the deadpan snarks he's known for.He was a good coach...but you could argue that he should have won more titles while at UF...they dominated the SEC for a while.
His whining always got on my nerves....something about his voice...or maybe it was his east tennessee accent.
So we had Sarkisian fired, Edstal fired, who was the 3rd?Brett McMurphy @McMurphyESPN 5m5 minutes ago
