a statement was made,to prove a point in an argument, that if people had been more vigilant in the days leading up to it sept 11th might only be remembered as Bear Bryant's birthday. the fellow who said this,i can't think of his name,is,i believe,a politician from tenn.

I am an avid fan of Law and Order, and I saw this last night as well. I had to do a double take with my ears when I heard him say this, but yeah, he said it, and it was pretty cool. Fred Thompson plays the NY County District Attorney. He plays a character that has moved from the South to NY. In real life, he was either a Senator or Rep from Tennesee. He is now retired from politics, and does an outstanding job playing his role on Law and Order.

A question that I have always had about Law and Order. Why have Briscoe and Green, or now, Fontana and Green, never run into Sipowitz and Clark when investigating a crime?

Wonder if Fred ad-libbed that line or if it was in the script. I can't imagine the writers for the show being casually aware of that fact, but I could see him knowing of it....

Gotta hand it to ol' Fred. Be an actor, go to Washington and fool around for a bit, then quit and go back and be an actor again. That's the way to do it.

Wasn't he in "Hunt for Red October"?
