The Georgia football team will spend the first part of Thanksgiving as it typically does — by practicing in the morning for Georgia Tech.
Players will disperse before noon to go enjoy a holiday meal.
Offensive lineman Kolton Houston is going home to Buford to be with family.
“I’m a lineman,” he said. “I don’t have to really watch what I eat.”
His weakness is sweet potato soufflé, his aunt’s specialty.
“That’s my favorite,” he said.
Nose guard Chris Mayes is making a two-hour drive home to Griffin.
“Chilling with the fam,” he said. “Try not to eat too much because there’s a big game on Saturday.”
Quarterback Greyson Lambert’s parents are coming to town from Jesup. He wasn’t sure of the plans but figures they will eat at a restaurant and hang out at his house.
Inside linebacker Jake Ganus plans to go to assistant coach Mike Ekeler’s house along with some other teammates.
Players will return in time to practice Friday. The team will then leave for Atlanta, where it will stay overnight. Players will visit the Shepherd Center rehabilitation hospital and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta on Friday afternoon.
