Not quite, at least not based on what I've heard/read. Whit (AD) did a bunch of research and decided early on that he wanted to go with an offensive-minded coach. To his credit he was up front with Foster about it and didn't lead him on with courtesy interviews, etc. This story has a lot more detail, including this from Foster:I've read a few accounts of Foster stating he didn't want the HC, that he was perfectly happy with what he was doing. Made it real to go after an offense-minded HC.
“I was disappointed that I didn’t really get an opportunity, and I expressed that to him, that I didn’t get a chance to really state my case,” Foster said. “But at the end of the day, Whit, we kind of talked about this and me being involved. I was really excited about it.”
