For all the talk of CLM's status, we appear to be going head to head for far more high-profile players with UGA.

If they whiff on their hire, we potentially can clean up with kids like McBride, Hardman, Brown, Warrior, maybe even Robertson.

If they hire Kirby, how many losses might we accrue from our own commitments, much less the uncommitted Georgia kids we're still after.

Interesting situation to watch unfold. Thoughts?

If reports are true that Richt stays at UGA in some capacity, Kirby is hired, and they are able to hold on to Pruitt, then UGA might not miss a beat. It would be ironic if we lost recruits because of a CKS defection.

McBride had been a virtual lock to Georgia. He has been very vocal that if Richt is gone he most likely will end up at Alabama. I don't know if any other recruit that has specifically said anything about this having an impact on their recruitment.

I was under the impression we were running neck and neck with them for McBride, who is very close to Kirby. Hardman was considered a Georgia lock until he visited us for the LSU game. Derrick Brown, another five-star, has both schools among his finalists. The list goes on and on.

The AJC says Kirby and Mullen are the top two candidates. If Mullen gets the job, I suspect we'll get far more of the Georgia kids.

Pruitt is likely back at BAMA if Smart is indeed the new Headman at UGA.

There is little doubt a Smart move to Georgia will cost us a recruit or two. We might also gain a recruit or two that would have ended up at Georgia. With so many coaching changes coming this year there is no telling how many flip flops we will see. To me being the team that is stable gives us an advantage but it's not absolute. Sometimes the excitement of a new coach and a new system intrigues a player and he wants to be part of something new. Georgia doesn't actually lack talent they just haven't coached them up well enough.

The one thing you can count on in recruiting year in and year out is that Auburn no matter how stacked will tell every freshman they can start from day one. They are like a Bessemer super highway used car salesmen.

Football Scoop is saying Kirby got the UGA job. Also, Champ to USCE and Pruitt targeted for BAMA. Look for Moffit to be targeted if Cochran is indeed gone to.

Also saw some saying Mark Hocke who went to GA in December as their S&C coach would be a candidate. He is a Bama/Cochran protégé.

Looks like good chops as a WR position coach. Don`t know how much you can hold against him as far as Tulane is concerned. Good Lord ! Can you imagine what it must be like trying to win there?
How about Tommy Bowden taking them to an undefeated season in 1998? Don't know how that happened...
