Ezekiel Elliot pretty much declared last week. He may have changed his mind since he got more carries though
No, he is gone and it has nothing to do with the comments. He is good enough to go and won't get any better.

Cardale Jones said he was gone too.
His only chance of starting again is another injury to JT. If he doesn't project well in the draft, he will probably transfer - but I seriously doubt that he will be back at OSU next year. He lost his job to JT and didn't take it well.

He seems like he missed a golden opportunity by not leaving last year. Considering he was being rumored as a 1st round pick, although I doubt anyone would have actually taken that big of a risk. After this season, he'll be lucky to even be drafted.

RB's have a short shelf life. Better to start getting paid as soon as possible and get some bank before you get hurt or lose a step.
Exactly my thoughts. They need to make the money while they can. Come back in the off season and finish the degree (hopefully). It took Tony Nathan 30 years to finish, but he did it. RTR!

When he was just another player in the locker room, he fit in. When he became the starter last year we were in the hunt for a championship and no one did anything to rock the boat. But his ego grew exponentially after the championship game. He read and believed all of the press clippings about how great he was, and how he could be a first round draft pick after only 3 starts.

Meyer convinced him to stay and he became a problem in the locker room. Herman wasn't there to rein him in, and the problems only got worse as he struggled in the red zone (FWIW, he did great running the offense this year between the 20s). When JT was named the starter after helping us score in the red zone in successive games, he just disappeared. He wasn't happy, but he didn't complain - he just totally lost focus.

Then JT got arrested and he got the starting job back. He was on top of the world, thinking that it was his job to lose again. After only scoring 28 points against MN, JT got the starting job back and Jones was done. Again, publicly he kept quiet, but internally everyone knew that he was done.

To his credit he has not said anything that might hurt the team, but he is looking for the next stage in his life.

To be fair, all of that is an understandable reaction to his circumstances. One thing that I appreciate about Saban is how he uses terms like being exceptional instead of reacting normally. It does take some exceptional behavior to that to handle it i.e. how Blake Sims handled his.

I started wondering about Cardale when he held a press conference to announce he was returning to school and then wondered why people were surprised he was returning to school.
