I'm in the middle of securing tickets - can folks tell me which side Bama will be sitting on?

Who all is going to the desert?

This can be a catch-all for folks to discuss tickets, hotels, eateries, whatever.

Roll Tide, y'all.

unless someone is handing out free tickets, i will be enjoying the Tide from my sofa
Going to be tough to come by freebies for this one. Heck, throw in airfare, lodging, food, time off (most people can't afford days off at the beginning of the year) - it's tough on a lot of folks. Throw in the cost of going into the first playoff game and it's double-tough.

If it's a NC game, I figure out a way, and I go. I know the day will come when I physically can't do it. I've got great memories from those games but no memory of what they cost. And I am by no means rich, and basically a frugal person. I figure as long as it doesnt affect anything my family needs, I'm going.
I can't add anything to the "things to do" conversation, except to say it's a great time of year to go (weather wise). Old town Scottsdale is my favorite place to visit for for souvenirs, dining, bars, etc. RTR

I don't know of anyone going and most Bama boards have no more than two or three posters going. I think this is going to be Notre Dame part 2 with 75% of stadium being orange.

Me and another friend are going. Flying Mobile to Phoenix Saturday and staying in Scottsdale. Old Town Scottsdale is definitely the place to hang out.

Please post any pep rally info. Thanks and RTR

I have two tickets but it doesn't look like I'll be going. We went to the Cotton Bowl. Between ticket costs, airfare to AZ, hotel, car rental, meals, etc.; the common fan is getting hard pressed to find the extra dollars to make trips like these so close together. About the only way I can see myself going would be on a game day charter flight.

Update: My daughter and I will be at the game, got seats on a game day charter. Can't wait!!!

We will be in the middle of this vacation in Florida, but we will find someplace to watch.

I'm going. Hotel on points (Glendale Renaissance) and lucked out on a cheap flight since I live on the West coast ($210). Really, really, really excited about the opportunity!

All Seasons Sports Travel has same day charter slots left, if interested. Can't paste it here for some reason. Also maybe Total Sports Travel.

Ok, first off, Greendale is just a suburb of Phoenix, just like Scottsdale and mesa.

I'll see you guys out there

Here's links to awesome food up there...

The culinary drop out- I personally prefer the one in Scottsdale, but that whole hood is quite hoity and youth (in fact, not hood at all).

Sakebomber sushi -despite low reviews, best I had in the larger Phoenix area.

Roy's restaurant - Hawaii fusion. Lived in Hawaii for years where this chain is founded. Top three of restaurants I've been to in my young, but well traveled life. Make reservations and ask them to make crab cakes (no longer on open menu so you have to request ahead of time). Pineapple upside cake and chocolate cake thingy are on a DIFFERENT level. Menu changes weekly but I've never had anything bad. Get the Asian ribs as an app to accompany the crab cakes.

Firebirds - have a few in the local area and their smoked chicken wings bright me back to God, because clearly he had a hand in this. If you've never been, it's an incredible place with low prices for such great foods and portions.

As for entertainment, this was the first time/place I ever went to one of those "dinner while watching a movie" movie theaters. Food was surprisingly good and prices aren't bad. Oh, and you get alcohol and watching a movie in really comfy seats, if you're into that sort of thing.

If I can think of anymore, I'll let you know

One of my favorite places in Scottsdale is The Roaring Fork

http://www.roaringfork.com

If you like authentic spicy Mexican - Los Dos Molinos. Go to the original (South Central)- not in a great part of town but safe. It is in an old house that used to be owned by Tom Mix

Good pizza chain around town called "Oreganos". The one down by ASU is a fun place.
