The first ever Alabama Alumni Game will take place on Saturday

Feb. 3, 2016

TUSCALOOSA, AL -
The Alabama baseball team's second official week of spring practice began on Monday, as the Crimson Tide returned to work at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The team is set to scrimmage on Friday and Sunday to bookend the program's first-ever Alabama Alumni Game on Saturday, Feb. 6.

The Crimson Tide wrapped up its first weekend of spring practice with a trio of scrimmages on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Each scrimmage featured strong starting pitching, but the hitting came on strong as the games progressed each day. The weekend finished out with Gray claiming a victory in Friday's game, before Crimson came back to win the final two contests on Saturday and Sunday.

Friday and Sunday of this weekend will feature a pair of scrimmages, with Friday's intrasquad set to start at 3:30 p.m. CT and Sunday's game scheduled for a 2 p.m. first pitch. In between the two intrasquad scrimmages featuring the 2016 squad will be the Alabama baseball program's first ever Alumni Game.

"Our alumni game is free to the public," said head coach Mitch Gaspard. "It'll be great for the fans to see some of those faces come back that have been great players here at Alabama. We're super excited about the event, and we have nearly 200 former members of the program signed up for the day. This Saturday should be a really enjoyable experience for everyone involved."

Alabama's Alumni Game festivities will be open to the public on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. with stadium tours running from the opening until 1:30 p.m. CT. First pitch of the actual game in scheduled in the 12-12:30 p.m. range with members of the 2016 team facing off against some of the most prominent alumni in the history of Crimson Tide baseball. The scrimmage will end around 1:45 p.m. CT, allowing fans at Sewell-Thomas to attend the men's basketball game across the street at Coleman Coliseum.

Fans planning to show up at the alumni game inside "The New Joe" are welcome to sit along the lower concourses, including the right field terrace, to catch all the action. Those in attendance at Saturday's event are also encouraged to take a tour of the newly renovated Sewell-Thomas Stadium at any point while the gates are open.

Tickets to be a part of the inaugural season at Sewell-Thomas Stadium are currently on sale and can be purchased online at RollTide.com/Tickets, through Sewell-Thomas.com or by calling 1-877-TIDETIX (843-3849). Fans can also purchase tickets in advance at the Alabama Ticket Office, located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, or on game day at one of the ticket windows surrounding the stadium.

I am wondering out of around 200 that have committed to be there, how many if any current MLB
players will be there. David Robertson? then you have J. Nelson, Alex Avila, Josh Rutledge and
Tommy Hunter. Not sure if Adam Morgan is part of the Phillies 40 man roster. Looking forward to see
the NEW Joe. By the way, saw that single game tickets will be on sale Monday.
