Crimson Tide to practice Friday through Sunday on last weekend before the regular season

Feb. 10, 2016

TUSCALOOSA, AL -
Friday, Saturday and Sunday of this weekend mark the final three scrimmages of the 2016 spring before the Alabama baseball team begins regular season play on Feb. 19 against Maryland. The team will scrimmage at 3:30 p.m. CT on Friday, before a 2:30 p.m. start on Saturday and a 1:45 p.m. first pitch to close out the weekend on Sunday.

The Crimson Tide finished its second weekend of scrimmages on Sunday. Friday and Sunday were traditional intrasquads bookending Saturday's first ever Alumni Game. The Saturday event welcomed back nearly 250 former players, coaches and managers, providing all alumni a chance to reconnect with former teammates and members of the Alabama baseball program. The former members of the Crimson Tide baseball family also got their first look at the new Sewell-Thomas Stadium, taking tours and getting a chance to experience the .525 Club and Home Plate Club following the scrimmage that pitted the alumni against the current 2016 roster.

Monday started a week of traditional practices that will end on Thursday. Friday will begin with stretch and batting practice before first pitch at 3:30 p.m. CT. The team will return to the field on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. start and then host its final intrasquad on Sunday at 1:45 p.m. CT. As always, the trio of scrimmages are open to the public with seating available throughout the lower bowl and in the right field terrace area.

Fans come meet the 2016 Crimson Tide, get the team poster and collect autographs at this evening's men's basketball game against Texas A&M. The entire roster and coach Gaspard will be available on the upper concourse from 5:15 until 5:45 p.m. CT for a meet and greet, before taking the court during the first half of the game to throw out shirts.

On Monday, the Alabama TIDE PRIDE/Ticket Office announced the sale of individual game, mini-plan and group outing ticket sales. Season tickets, which were already for sale and remain as a purchase option, were shipped this week as well with the earliest anticipated arrival date being Monday, Feb. 15 and running up until Opening Day.

Tickets to be a part of the inaugural season at Sewell-Thomas Stadium can be purchased online at RollTide.com/Tickets, through Sewell-Thomas.com or by calling 1-877-TIDETIX (843-3849). Fans can also buy tickets in advance at the Alabama Ticket Office, located in the lobby of Coleman Coliseum, or on game day at one of the ticket windows surrounding the stadium.

Alabama's 2016 season will begin on Friday, Feb. 16 against the Maryland Terrapins. The Crimson Tide and Terps are scheduled for a weekend set with Friday's first pitching inside the new "Joe" slated for 6:30 p.m. CT. The two teams will then meet at 3:30 p.m. CT on Saturday and will close out the weekend slated for a noon first pitch on getaway day.
