There's one thing I think we've all missed on this, and it really just dawned on me.

With a new QB what guys have done in the past can sometimes become irrelevant. The relationship between the QB and his WR'S is pretty important, and whoever can build the best rapport with the starter will see the field.

That's one reason Mullaney did so well, Coker trusted him in tough situations (like Norwood before him with AJ).

That being said, some receivers are going to build rapport with any QB through hard work, route running, consistency, etc... That's why Cooper did so well, and continues to. I think the same can be said of Ridley.
