I would think that Dak would be able to call a large number of friends that would be happy to drive him wherever.
My thoughts. Getting a DUI this early in his life is a bad sign. Even if you drink and drive, the odds are low of getting caught, so I have to assume he has done this many times. Sure scouts will too. I hate if for him, but if he has sense and is not a Johnny type, he will learn and move on.

I understand college kids will drink, but, when you have as much at stake with the upcoming NFL Draft..Why chance screwing that up..Have all the fun you want, don't take your car, have a friend drive you around or call Uber..Just too much at stake coming up..
In Starkville and Auburn it's Udder not Uber.

While I'm in agreement with the bulk of comments here - nobody should be getting this stuff nowadays - well, I can give you an entire list of behaviors that shouldn't be happening that still do.

How is any high school of college girl having an out of wedlock baby nowadays - ever?

How is anyone anywhere in Western culture getting AIDS nowadays?

Why does anyone steal anyone's cell phone with phone locator nowadays?

Dak Prescott probably did what 90% of those caught DUI (not DWI) do - he had the always reliable 'two beers' and left the place thinking he was okay. He's probably done this a dozen or more times before.

And btw - Prescott didn't play any sort of race card ("a black guy in Mississippi can't get a fair shake from a white cop" blah blah blah). He wasn't - a la Manziel - selling his autograph and all but daring the NCAA to do something; he wasn't a snotty punk like Maurice Clarett.

He hasn't said anything, which might be the path of wisdom at this point.

And btw - the guy was hosting a clinic for kids on Saturday......not out gang-banging, not dressed up in the Mike Tyson jewelry, not sleeping with a porn star like the Notre Dame kid or knocking up a 14-year old girl like a certain former MSU basketball coach did.

Yes, I get the whole 'he put other lives in danger, including his own.' Absolutely true.

But if this is the extent of the bad things he ever does then I'd say that's pretty good. We'll see - he'll be under more scrutiny now.

Anyone who is defending him needs to think about all of the families who have lost loved ones because of drunk driving. This is bad and it needs to hurt his draft status. He needs to learn.

1) Nobody is saying he shouldn't be penalized - he undoubtedly will.

2) Personally, I find an organization that is sponsored to such a large extent by alcohol to then turn around and punish a kid for something he did based on using that product to be versatile to put it charitably.

His reputation is at least stained by what he did. No doubt someone may decide, "you know, he's not worth the risk." Depends on whether they think its an isolated incident or not.

And that is defensible.

.This is in a vacuum, I have above average coordination, heck I was in the drumline at Bama. I could drive with 4 beers paying attention to the road much easier than trying to text. Both are horrible, but texting and driving is the next frontier to prevent. You cannot drive an text, it is doom and imo, only beaten out by stone arse drunk on the road.

Young and dumb comes to mind. Not going to throw Dak under the bus for this. He seems to be a good guy and I'm sure he will learn from his mistake. His first paycheck will reflect how big a mistake it was. Happy nobody got hurt.

I travel a lot because of medical appointments and My wife and see it all the time. The car in front of us is on the yellow line, then on the white line, weaving back and forth. One of us will say "texting" and sure enough we get to see them looking at their phone as we pass. We usually pass when they are on the edge of the road instead riding the middle line. We have all seen cars run off the road because of this, I am sure.

I guess people think it won't happen to me, I am too smart to wreck while texting.

Just as bad as drinking and driving in my opinion.

When some people get to drinking, the stupidity factor comes into play. The more they drink, the stupider they act. Sounds to me like this kid needs a chaperon.
BTDT... (Lived thru it)

Dak has the added attention from being a star player.
Sometimes after a couple of drinks... Low Profile goes out the window.
Dak does need a best friend to be there to keep him out of trouble.

Selma does have a point, but, there's a few lets say cabbies I'd just assume not get into their cabs..

Here's a article about a cab driver who either was justified in killing a passenger or was a ticking time bomb waiting to explode..My point being it may be safer to walk now days instead of calling a cab or Uber..

Mods I apologize for getting offtrack from sports & will be my last post about it I promise..

Here's The Link..CLICK ME
I drove a cab back in the mid 1970's in and around the Columbus/Ft Benninng (GA)/Phenix City AL area. I don't disagree that there are some cabbies in certain areas who won't hesitate to "take you for a ride". At the same time though, I found that the greatest majority of cabbies took that job solely as a means of supporting themselves and their families. I'd be willing to bet that for every dishonest cabbie you find, there are ten other people who wouldn't think twice before robbing or even killing him/her for what little cash they may be carrying.
