Something anecdotal fwiw .... When my niece was still in high school (a few years ago) there would be regular cookouts and similar get-togethers at my sister-in-law's house. When I was around, one thing I noticed is how un-masculine (for lack of a better word) all the guys were. Without exception none of them had any interest in sports, cars, hunting, fishing, etc. There was no talk of pursuing a high-powered career. I only heard contempt for capitalism, making money, working a regular job, building a career, etc. I don't think there was a Y chromosome in the bunch. In fact, the dudes were so lame that none of them knew how to work a charcoal grill. I'm serious; they couldn't keep the fire lit. Then I revealed to them the magic of proper ventilation. They weren't even aware enough to be embarrassed by their cluelessness. Over multiple events these observations probably encompassed a couple dozen guys in total. I don't think any guy in my high school would have fit the above description.
