Oh dear God, we can put this one right up there with "if Colt hadn't got hurt..."

"If I was 100 percent, the game outcome would have been a little different," Lawson told Paul Finebaum of the SEC ESPN Network on Monday.

The star pass-rusher managed two sacks in the title bout, but was slowed by the knee injury that forced him out of the Orange Bowl versus Oklahoma two weeks earlier.

Lawson is now preparing for the NFL draft, where he's projected to come off the board in the first round.

I think we need to start a new handkerchief and offer it for sale with all our opponents excuses on it:

2009 - if Colt hadn't got hurt
2011 - if that plane hadn't crashed and killed our basketball coaches
2012 - if Ohio State hadn't been on probation
2015 - if Lawson hadn't been hurt

But folks - the PROOF POSITIVE that this does not matter?

I didn't pay any attention to Clemson this year.

Did they beat anyone by a CLOSE score with someone injured on the other team?

Oh wait - didn't Notre Dame's QB get hurt??????

I mean, we can ALL play this game. If Sam Bradford doesn't get hurt, Colt isn't even in the game. We can argue the same thing with the Notre Dame QB (I believe he went out against VA but I wasn't watching it, I only heard about it).

OK - I'll bite...

if Cam Rob were 100% - we would have beaten them by 3 scores. Derrick Henry would have pile driven them into submission over the left side

Injuries are just a part of the game & someone that has played as much football as Shaq Lawson should be smart enough to figure that out.

Shaq might want to talk to Mackensie Alexander about which player's injury mattered most.

It's fine he wasn't 100%, though. He made up for the difference by lining up offside any possible chance he got.

I don't fault the guy for thinking he could have done more if healthy, but the result is what it is.

There's no "I" in team, but Shaq is fighting hard to keep the "me" in team. Move on. Your team got beat. And Shaq, maybe it's YOUR fault you were hurt. It's even possible you over played your body's ability in one way or another and helped your team to lose. The pendulum swings both ways.
