Voyager 1 has been traveling for almost 40 years and is still less than a light day from earth. So if its headed that way, check back in 16,000 years or so. :)
A bit longer than that, I'm afraid. According to the article, at a speed of 56,000 kph (35,000 mph) it would take approx 81,000 years to travel only 4.24 light years, or the distance between Earth and Proxima Centauri, the closest star to Earth.
By the time the craft got there, those aboard would have no idea where they were going or why.
The biggest problem is that you'd have to take women along if for no other reason than to guarantee the continuation of our species along the way. Unfortunately, most of them would want to stop several times a day and ask for directions./blue font/
