It's been seven years since the Golden State Warriors selected Richard Hendrix. No Alabama player's been taken since in the two-round NBA draft.

Guard Retin Obasohan is the program's best bet for halting the streak, but the odds appear long. The Belgian import does not appear on any of the main experts' projections for the 60-pick draft.

The first round starts at 7 p.m. CT Thursday in Brooklyn.

Alabama coach Avery Johnson is confident he'll hear Obasohan's name called.

"I'm hoping he can sneak into the late, late first round or somewhere in the second round," Johnson said Tuesday. "But even if he doesn't get drafted, his phone is going to be blowing off the hook and we'll have five or seven teams that are going to want to get him on their summer league team, hopefully singing a one- or two-year contract with the option of also playing overseas."

Retin is plenty good enough, if he wants to do that. Chance of making good money, but it's a rough row to hoe. Really hard work. Wish him the best, would love to keep seeing him play. Say, whatever became of Trevor Releford... (seems he's playing in Greece. Imagine, playing basketball in Greece, that's pretty cool). Trevor was a fine little scoring machine. Retin's more athletic.

Avery announced Retin signed a FA deal with the Sacramento Kings.
With the NBA by far the most global of America's major sports, and "foreign exposure" vital to that aim, says here the Belgian Bulldozer sticks on a roster somewhere.
