Georgia has lined up a nonconference opponent slated for its 2020 football schedule.
East Tennessee State has agreed to visit Sanford Stadium at a date that season to be determined, according to a memorandum of understanding obtained by OnlineAthens.com on Friday.
Georgia will pay the FCS school $550,000 and will provide 1,500 tickets. The MOU has been signed by both school’s athletic directors, with East Tennessee State’s Richard Sander doing that on May 13.
East Tennessee State, located in Johnson City, went 2-9 in 2015 while playing its first season since dropping the program in 2003. It is joining the Southern Conference this season after a season as an independent.
The Buccaneers are playing at Tennessee in 2018 and at Vanderbilt in 2019 and meet the Commodores again in 2021.
Georgia also has FCS opponents on its schedule with Nicholls State in 2016, Samford in 2017 and Murray State in 2018.
