Lowndes wide receiver Xavier Jenkins backed off a commitment to Georgia last Saturday.
“He just wanted to open it up and kind of take his time and make sure that he made the right decision,” said Lowndes assistant head coach Terry Quinn who coaches Jenkins in the long jump and sprints as the school’s boys head track coach.
Jenkins, a three-star recruit by Scout.com, committed to the Bulldogs on Feb. 18.
He is slated to visit Miami and former Georgia coach Mark Richt this weekend for a Hurricanes camp, according to InsideTheU, a 247Sports site. His decommittment from Georgia was first reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Jenkins led Lowndes with 26 catches for 430 yards and eight touchdowns as a junior.
Quinn said Georgia is still in the mix.
“When he committed, the only place he had ever been was Louisville besides Georgia,” Quinn said.
