This has got to be the oldest Alabama broadcast game that i've ever seen.I've seen clips of older stuff but not an actual televised game. It's cool to see how different things were back then and how much has actually stayed the same.

This was the first prime time college game ever broadcast and ABC got their money's worth. It was a great game and duel between QB's.

Musso was a violent runner.I've always heard how great he was and seen highlights but it's another thing to see him in real time.Wow.

Channel 6 out of B'ham, full of snow and static but one of the greatest I've ever watched. How could anyone not be a fan of Bama and CFB after watching this game.. RTR

So that was a first for me Bama running the Wishbone in 69. I recall when we went to it full time in 1972 vs USC. But this was the first time I saw the wishbone before then. Of course we were only on tv 3 times a year at most back then. Does anyone know if this was the first year we ran the Wishbone. This is a heck of a trivia question which most of us would miss and say 1972 was when we unveiled the Wishbone.

It started late to avoid preempting the Lawrence Welk show.
I was 12 and killed a 2 foot sub sandwich during first half, and no trouble staying awake late to watch the finish.
Great game.
Archie should have won the Heisman. He was Manziel before Manziel.

I know this could be silly but when Scott hunter came to the line looked around and flipped the center's towel up was cool. It reminds me of how the qb will raise his foot to tell the receiver to go I'm motion.

Could you imagine if Johnny musso weighed 220 instead of 190? He was a bad boy!

Heck of a game and the story I remember was Steve Sloan was calling plays from the booth and threw down his headphones so he could not call the last Bama TD. Tried to find the story on the net, no luck. Maybe someone else can recall it.

Are you sure about this?

I was not alive, but I've always been told that the 1965 Orange Bowl (Bama vs Texas in the game where Namath crossed the goal line) was the first. Furthermore, the NY Times and the USA Today College Football Encyclopedia say that it was the 65 Orange Bowl. And I do have the coach's film of that game and a small ad and it APPEARS to be a night game to me.
