Maybe had we done this a long time ago we may not be having these issues now. Don't spew out about "what about the innocent women/children?" either. They are just as indoctrinated as the men.

How about if foreign sailors in broken small boats drift into your territorial waters, you tow them out of your territorial waters and call their government asking them to keep their small boats out of our water rather than holding them hostage for $400 million?
Because we never punished the Iranians for the first hostage taking, they think this is normal behavior.

And as for "We had to give them their money back," that agreement was with the Shah's government, not the islamic a-holes in charge today. We should tell them, "put the shah back on the throne and you can have your money back."
We have done this level of international mental gymnastics before. We signed a Treaty of Alliance with the French, to which we owe our independence. In 1793, the French, having every empire in Europe lined up against them, called in the mark, and asked us to fight alongside them. The US said that the US-French treaty had been with the French King and since the French Republic had killed him, the treaty was null and void. We should have done the same thing with the Iranian, instead of giving them bribery money with which they will murder US service members and citizens of our allies around the world.
If we had a president who had at heart the interests of the United States, we would have done this. Instead, we have one who wants to see the US humbled.
