How about 15 team super conferences?

If you're absolutely gonna do it then go with the 16 or 18 team super conference (I say 18 teams for those who lean towards a 9 team conference schedule) and as someone said above the conference champions battle it out for all the marbles. This removes all the subjective human element and agendas. You can still have all the polls you want but it won't influence the playoffs.

I say we go to 24 team conferences. We could have the SEC-East, which consists of the 12 SEC teams (as of '92) and the SEC-West, which consists of the Big 12 teams and whoever else that gets them to 12 teams.

Then just have the winners who beat the other 11 teams in their side of the conference play each other for the championship.

It's flawless. You get to play the classic SEC teams every year with rivalries intact. Mizzou and aTm get their old rivals back too. What could possibly go wrong?
