"The University of Miami announced today that red-shirt junior Al-Quadin Muhammad and senior Jermaine Grace have been permanently dismissed from the Hurricanes football program for violating NCAA rules," the statement reads.

"The University will, however, continue their financial aid through graduation. The decision was made in consultation with outside counsel and after discussions with the NCAA enforcement staff. As no staff members or boosters were involved in the violations, the program will not be subject to sanctions and, at this time, the University deems this matter closed."

Interesting that since no booster or staff were involved there will be no sanctions. Hmmm. It is a good thing they didn't sell a text book to another student without the staff or boosters knowing about it, isn't it?

So you can cheat if there's no booster or staff involvement?

I think that "cheating" may be harsh here. Sounds like they received rental car benefits which are not allowed, but it also looks like they have not played in a game since they received those benefits. They then lied to the NCAA when it was investigated, so Miami cut them loose.

As to why they would continue to pay for their education - I really don't care to speculate, but I doubt that it is just because they want to help these young men.
