The latest admissions of attacks could speed up that effort possibly including the upcoming presidential election, according to officials.

"We should carefully consider whether our election system, our election process, is critical infrastructure like the financial sector, like the power grid," Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said.

I mean, it's not like we've ever had a disputed Presidential election or anything. And maybe I'm old-fashioned but I've long said one of my concerns (despite being very pro-technology) is the use of computers (particularly if it becomes ubiquitous) for elections make 'stealing an election' much easier than it is now.

Not to mention endless fodder for conspiracy theories and doubt even over non-stolen elections.
