That is not entirely accurate. CNS only said that the decision would be whether Barnett or Bateman would start. He also said that Hurts was in the plans.

He never said anything beyond that, and reminded the media they didn't ask anything else. He set them up to say what he wanted them to say. Just like he always does. And they complied, unknowingly.

He also said Hurts was going to come in, on the 3rd series. He didn't say the plays were scripted, but you can bet they were. All of that was pre-planned.

Not sure how that gets spun into something strange is going on. Other than the media is putty, in the hands on CNS.
