I've watched all but 2 USC games since 1987 and I've never seen USC face a defense like that. Most USC fans are infuriated with USC's inept coaching and play calling. I'm not so sure it was that bad. I've never seen receivers covered like that. I've never seen linebackers get to the ball that quickly. The DL gave Browne about 2 full seconds to throw and that was it. It's the best defense I've ever seen USC play - by a mile. I knew there was a coaching gap but talent gap between the 2 teams was much wider than I expected.

It was fun talking with you guys at that the game - nice folks. Congrats on the win. Your team is in a completely different league than ours. Best of luck the rest of the year.

I can honestly say of all the games I've attended, the USC fans were head and shoulders above all others I've encountered out of conference (Michigan, Michigan state, Notre dame, Ohio state, Clemson) when it comes to class. I expected booing and so on throughout the game and trash talk prior, but it never happened.

And I'm not referencing the keyboard cowboys out there, cause every fan base has those. Each of those other fan bases were pretty annoying in real life at the games.

Don't be a stranger. We usually have the pac12 game threads going on Friday night.

I'm glad to hear that. I was outside the stadium for about 3 hours and the fans really seemed to be getting along. USC fans are typically pretty nice/fun to go to a game with.

Wish we'd schedule a home and home. I'd love a reason to go do BD Stadium.

Feel free to hang out with us a while. USC isn't as bad as Bama made them look, but the coaching needs to improve if your team is going to show it. Too much emotion/hype and poor discipline. Get those things out, get to work preparing, and USC is a good team. The secret isn't having blue chips. The secret is having blue chips who prepare and play like blue collars. I'm going to feel bad when I go back to work Tuesday and face the resident SC fan just because she's so nice. See you around.

Saban has said in the past that he likes the big neutral site game for the beginning of the season as a recruiting tool. That being said, I'd LOVE for us to do some home and home series.

It has a lot more to do with the $. We don't make any $ when we play away and the neutral sight folks pay big time.

I strongly agree with this. I unknowingly stayed at the alumni host hotel for USC and their fans were top notch. I'm now a USC fan.

Man, hadn't even thought of that. Still, home and home would be nice. I can't argue with the income, and I guess the only real benefits would be a sold out stadium and recruits attendance.

Neutral site games are good for recruiting too. Opportunity for people that can't make it to Tuscaloosa easily get a glimpse of what we have to offer when we come to town.

I think the money on the neutral site game is solid but does it really make up for a home game at BD? I would imagine the revenue for a home game would exceed a neutral site game.

Thank you PepsiTrojan for your classy post. I would like to see you guys do well this year but I think you are still feeling the effect of the sanctions. USC is a blue blood team and I have no doubt that they will get this team back in contention.
Thanks again and good luck!

The money for these neutral site games is great.

It's cool to play brand names teams in fancy stadiums.

But I'll show my age and say I prefer on-campus games, period. It's sad how few marquee intersectional games we will see in a much more worthy Bryant-Denny Stadium. If Southern Cal wants to fly to Tuscaloosa, come on. It will be hard to replace Kent State or Chattanooga, but I guess we could adjust.

The atmosphere for the Notre Dame-Texas game was what college football should be about, not about cashing in. (Even so, Texas has fake grass when their mascot lives on a cattle ranch.)

Between 1975-1978, we played home-and-away with Southern Cal, Missouri, Nebraska and Washington (freaking Seattle) and somehow didn't go broke. Notre Dame and Texas aren't coming to Tuscaloosa, either, if we won't go there. I think our tradition demands we play in the shrines of college football, but we are winding up in the casinos.

Unfortunately, I can't afford to go to on-campus games nowadays either! My pay is stuck in 1978, too.

With a home and home, you add up the home revenue plus what the visitors are allowed. Then, you add another year and divide it all by two. It still doesn't add up to what the teams make at a venue like Jerry's World, when you add in the TV money which doesn't have to be split with the rest of the conference...

Pepsi, I like you fine, but Coach Saban would tell you to talk to the Coke bottle

Good luck this year
