Sad story, but why was his race mentioned in the first sentence?

The incident happened on Sept. 12th and the boy's leg began feeling numb a month later. In the article the families attorney says the school failed to call for an ambulance the day of the incident. So a whole month later and the boy was never taken to a doctor?

I'm not taking sides necessarily but when stuff like this happens there's usually plenty of blame to spread around.

His attorney said the boy was leaving his classroom for the main office, where he planned to call his mother for a ride, on his first day at the school when Mosley stopped him for an unknown reason and threw the teen to the ground up to three times to stop him from walking out.Assistant Principal Eddie Powell reportedly witnessed the incident at some point, the attorney said, and an “inside source” told her the school had videotape of the incident.
A school resource officer saw the boy limping afterward but failed to assist him or immediately file a report, and school officials told the student they would call an ambulance after he reported numbness in his leg — but they apparently decided not to do so.
Instead, Mosley carried the teen to the school bus and sent the boy home without notifying his family of possible injuries.
Not sure where you got it was a month later. It was during the same school day.

Sorry, but there is simply no excuse for this. The employee should be in prison.

Montravious was allegedly body-slammed repeatedly by behavioral specialist Bryant Mosley on Sept. 12 at an alternative school in Muscogee County, Ga.
“They placed an injured student on the school bus,” said Tucker, adding that the boy told officials that his leg was numb on Oct. 13.

Sept. 12 to Oct. 13 is approx. 1 month.

I would like to know what happened in that time to render medical treatment to the boy, before placing any responsibility on the school for the amputation.

I think that's a fair question for anyone to ask.

That account is in direct contradiction to the account I quoted above. So which account is true? Considering she has been fired for missing days on her job (the mother) and that records were requested on Sept. 26, I find the account you quote to be the less credible account at this point. It does not align with the rest of the story at all.

ajc story

Video appears to show that a teenager was carried out of a Columbus school after an alleged incident that led to his right leg being amputated, Channel 2 Action News reported.

This is apparently at odds with a statement issued Friday by the Muscogee County School District, which said that 13-year-old teen loses leg Montravious Thomas “was up and walking and not in distress,” the station reported.
