I really wont be surprised if the committee ranks Washington number 3 Sunday. Either way it goes, it doesn't matter who we play as long as we get a chance to play.

Don't be surprised if they drop Clemson to four and set up a rematch.......in Atlanta.........of two teams less than 200 miles from Atlanta......and sell out the GA Dome, probably to the advantage of the Tigers since a lot of Tide fans are assuming Washington right now.

Maybe they won't - but don't be surprised.

I'm almost banking on it. I think it would've happened anyways but Washington blowing out a top 10 team on the last week of the season probably gives the committee the justification.

Also heard the CFBC, assuming Clemson, Washington and Alabama win, might consider dropping tOSU to #4 since it would be the only one of the four that was not a conference champion. Also the committee wanted Washington in Arizona to hopefully add some regional interest.

That works too. I think you, Krazy, and me will have our answers about the committee this year.

I've never thought we would play Washington because WU is a revenue loss to the committee like every other PAC 12 team not in SoCal. So that wouldn't suprise me either.

That sure would drive up ticket prices in Atlanta.......but possibly lower them in Tampa, too...........

I suspect they're hoping Wisky and Va Tech win today so Michigan gets in. If that's the case then I think we get Michigan in Atlanta.

I still think their goal is Bama/OSU in the final. I could see us playing Clemson in the Semi though, definitely for the money. Then you will get two "rematches" back to back for us. Big story for them, especially since they keep trying to come up with things to say about Bama.

Maybe they won't - but don't be surprised.
I'm betting on the exact opposite. IF, and a big IF, UW stays in I think they would be offered a sacrificial lamb to the Tide. They'll protect the Acorns, Klempson for the REVENGE/REMATCH storyline in Tampa. Also fan wise it would be a BOOM.

I'm not totally convinced that Clemson over Va Tech is the slam dunk a lot of folks are assuming. I realize the transitive property won't work, but consider their common opponents:

Boston College - VT wins by 49, Clemson by 46
Pitt - VT wins by 3, Clemson loses by 3
Syracuse - Clemson wins by 54, VT loses by 14

Both played an SEC foe (technically, Clemson played two):
Clemson narrowly escaped Auburn (who got better until injuries decimated them)
Va Tech lost to a Tennessee team that played its best ball in games 2, 4, and 5.

Clemson is a double digit favorite.

Clemson's defense is 8th (17.0), Va Tech is 20th (21.4) - but that number is skewed (in part) by the fact Clemson played (then) low output Auburn while VT played (then) high output Tennessee. (Note that Auburn's numbers are skewed anyway; sure they average 32.3 ppg, but subtract the three cupcakes - ULM, AAMU, Ark St - and the sole anomaly vs Arky......and they average 20.9 ppg. This is why I cut those numbers out to determine everyone's 'corrected PPG'). Note also

Clemson's scoring offense is 17th with 40.0 ppg, but Va Tech averages 35.0 themselves to rank 35th. Their 'signature win' is by six in a toss-up game to a team that Houston held to ten points and that somehow lost to Kentucky.

I'm not comfortable enough to say VT will win - but I don't think this is near the slam dunk a lot of pundits are suggesting.

Last night's Washington-CU game turned out exactly like I thought it would. So that I'm not accused of making it up after the fact:

1) I expect Alabama to score 27-34 points and Florida to score 3-11 points (so pick a score in that range)
2) I expect Wisky will beat Penn State narrowly.
3) Clemson-VT will be closer than expected by the betting line
