If so, I wonder if CTE could be a contributing factor?Possible suicide - very sad.
John David Crow died in 2015.Awful news. Prayers for his family and friends.
i saw a quip that it has been 55 years since a Heisman winner had passed away until today.
He got his information wrong. What he meant was that ALL of the Heisman winners of the last 55 years are still alive. Every winner AFTER Ernie Davis in 1961 - 55 years ago - still lives.John David Crow died in 2015.

Unreal..He got his information wrong. What he meant was that ALL of the Heisman winners of the last 55 years are still alive. Every winner AFTER Ernie Davis in 1961 - 55 years ago - still lives.
Also, three of the top eight vote getters in 1994 are dead - Steve McNair, Lawrence Phillips, and Salaam.
Someone (ESPN if they're still here) will do a "30 for 30" on the 'curse of the 1994 Heisman.'Unreal..

In addition to the three dead guys, Ki-Jana Carter's NFL career never really got off the ground (he was injured on his third carry ever and missed his entire rookie season (he also missed all of the 1998 and 1999 seasons with injuries). Kerry Collins was an alcoholic by 25, Warren Sapp was an NFL Hall of Famer who went bankrupt and has had numerous off the field incidents, including a prostitution arrest that cost him his NFL Network job and being bitten by a shark.
That's six top to bottom bizarre things out of the top ten (the others were Jay Barker, Eric Zeier, Napoleon Kaufman, and Zach Wiegert.
