CBS42 had a little story about the Black Coaches Association contacting Bama and not getting a response. Here we go again. Who will be the next Sly Croom?

Actually, CBS42 claimed they did contact Miami and Miami responded. However, whatever response was given was not mentioned.

I will. I would ask them which university has one of the largest minority student respresentations in the SEC?

"UA still compares well to other schools in the Southeastern Conference. The university has more blacks than the much-larger University of Georgia, and it is one of the few schools with a double-digit percentage of blacks."
Decatur Daily Nov. 29, 2005

Go boycott schools that haven't reached double-digits in their percentage of black students. Is one coaching position more important than hundreds or thousands of minority students?

I dont care what color a coach is. If hes a great guy and can win ball games, thats all I care about. What I dont like is an organization that was created to bully schools like ours into hiring a minority coach. They made us out to be racists because we didnt hire Sly Croom. And god forbid we ever had to fire a coach that just so happened to be black. The media would have a field day with that.

I don't give a rip what the BCA thinks about us or our program. I want the best coach available. Let them jump ND for firing Willingham before coming after any other school!

Well, if Herman Edwards or Tony Dungie (sp?) wants to interview for the Bama job, I think they would get a fair chance at it. Heck, I'd feel honored if they wanted the Bama job.

But Mal has said he wants the very best coach we can get. Edwards and Dungie might fall in that catagory but the BCA cant expect us to fill a quota. We should hire based on talent and experience...not skin color.

BCA has a report card for each school.

Several Major Schools that have never had Black Coaches:

USC
Ohio St.
Michigan
Oklahoma
Nebraska
LSU
Miami
Penn St.
FSU
Virginia Tech
Texas
Auburn

Well you get the picture. Why target Alabama? Simple (Its history) No other schools get the press like Alabama. Who was the first School in the SEC to recruit black players. Alabama.

IMHO that's why we didn't hire Sly Croom in the first place...the administration had to know down deep that neither of the two guys would probably make it in the long run, but the divorce from Shula won't be 1/4 as ugly as one from Croom would be....

Ludicrous ... BCA says Mal Moore's goal of hiring a "proven head coach" is discriminatory against minorities.

If Bama were to hire some no-name mediocrity just because he is black, I would imagine our black Bama brethren would be just as upset as the rest of us.

As I glance over their site, I keep asking myself, "who do they think they are?". I mean really, why should any university have to contact their organization every single time there is an opening for a head coach job? Why do they believe universities must respond to all of their applicants? If they have someone that meets the requirements for the job then they demand you hire them? Heh, I think we've all been turned down for a job we were qualified for...thats life. If you don't do as they wish, they can brand you a racist. This is bad for college football. Honestly, its bad period. Using scare tactics to hurt a university's reputation and recruiting is pathetic. I wouldn't be shocked if they tried to persuade athletes to stay away from schools that "fail the report card".
