I love their basketball program. I root for them when they don't play us (that's the only SEC team I can say that about). I love trips to Lexington - and Rich Brooks could probably kick my you-know-what. He looks like a scrapper. ;)

When I think college basketball I think Kentucky.

Great folks with respectable fans that are enjoyable to talk sports with (most I've meet anyway)

Bourbon.

1. I like their intensity about basketball (similar to ours about football)
2. Because of their intensity about basketball, that lead to Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant coming home to us. :)

My dad was from Grayson, Kentucky. My Kentucky heritage from his side goes back to the pre-Revolutionary War era and includes men who fought beside Daniel Boone and a direct ancestor who fought with the Orphan Brigade at Kennesaw Mountain. My grandfather was a coal miner. You'll find me saying nothing ill about the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

As regards UK, well, their fans are the closest to Alabama fans that I have seen in college sports. Granted, they are much better known for the big ball without corners, but they still have a well-educated and devoted fanbase.

And they don't do orange.:)

1. They share our dislike for Tennessee
2. They are as passionate about basketball as we are about football.
3. Kentucky Derby is amazing
4. Little known down South, Louisville has the nation's largest annual fireworks show (Thunder over Louisville) as part of the KY Derby Festival each year. Definitely worth seeing
5. Corvettes in Bowling Green

Ok, ok, I used to live in Louisville when I was a kid. I have almost nothing but very fond memories of Kentucky. The people were great, the scenery, the history... I've never been back but I've always wanted to go and spend a week just hanging out. I'm afraid I wouldn't recognize it. Bama will always be the motherland and Georgia's been good to me over the years but there's just something about Kentucky that stays with a person, and not in an STD sort of way.
