Although much love was given them on that list; I have always been fond of "The Ocean" riff by Zep.
Surprised "Sunshine of Your Love" didn't make it. That's a fav in everyone's book it seems.

I dunno about a single riff, but I was always impressed by Jeff Beck's lead guitar in the Yardbirds' Over Under Sideways Down.

i'm ticked that clarence white's beaumont rag, doc watson's black mountain rag, and tony rice's plastic banana to name a few were left off

I call the validity of this list subject based on the fact "Eruption" by Van Halen is NO WHERE to be seen. Un-freaking-real.

. . "You Really Got Me" from the Kinks (Dave Davies).
This list is dangerously close to being sacreligious.
Besides, isn't his #1 - "Smoke On The Water" based more on an organ riff?

Some others by artists on the list that were overlooked:
"Can't you hear me knocking" - Rolling Stones
"Supernaut" - Black Sabbath

| | | | | I think all rock riffs pale in comparison.
Keith has said that he didn't think he could have come up with that riff without a little help from his heroin addiction. I think Exile On Main Street was during his big junkie period. Though, I think it was their best album.

Off the top of my head, I would add:
Detroit, Rock City by Kiss
More Than a Feeling by Boston
Brown-Eyed Girl by Van Morrison (I hate this song, but it is a cool riff)
One by U2
1983 and 3rd Stone from the Sun by Jimi Hendrix
Sweet Home Alabama (how did that not make the list???)
I'll add more later...

Ain't Talkin' 'bout Love - Van Halen
Paranoid - the Ozzy/Rhoads version is , IMO , 10X superior to the Sabbath original .
2 Minutes to Midnight - Iron Maiden
Lay it Down - Ratt
