Steely Dan in Orange Beach, AL

Heard them on 6/19. They sounded very, very, good.

Becker, Fagen, 4 horns, guitar (in addition to Becker), piano (in addition to Fagen), bass, drums, three singers. The band had chops.

Played material from the 70s mainly. Only "Two against nature" from the 2000s. No stuff from Fagen or Becker solo projects. Yes, they did "Deacon blues."

Did anyone else go? Your impressions?

Reaalllly liked the versions of "Bodhisattva" "Don't take me alive" a samba-ized "Do it again" and "Black Friday."

As Fagen and Becker left the stage the band played the theme from "Last Tango in Paris."

They were here in Clearwater at Ruth Eckerd Concert Hall on the 12th. REH is one of the best venues in the country. It's built specifically for music and the sound is always perfect. I have seen many shows here, but this one was one of the best. The only bad part was hearing Becker rattle on about Scienetology. Their east coast hdqtrs is in Clearwater, so we see the nuts around all the time. The writer in this log mentions it as well.
