i have a stress fracture in my foot

Share

I am currently suffering from a stress fracture in my right foot. I have not had an X-ray but according to one website with the symptoms I have and going by the picture that shows where the pain would be this is what I probably have. What would be a realistic recovery time from something like this? In my internet searching it says 6-8 weeks but I would like some input from someone who actually has had this injury. I am also under the impression that they really cannot do anything for me other than possibly put a boot on it.

Re: i have a stress fracture in my foot

My wife did this 3 weeks ago. They told her 4 weeks...but maybe as long as 12 weeks unitl she is fully healed. You should go to a doctor and yes, they will put you in a boot. It could take 4-12 weeks depending on the severity of the break. An X-ray needs to be done. I would go to an orthopedist soon.

do yourself a favor go to a FOOT DR. ! podiatrist see things in x-rays that ER and regular Dr's miss.
20+ years ago, i had severely twisted my ankle. went to the ER and they treated it as such. 3 days later i still couldn't walk, had gotten worse and it was uglier looking. podiatrist x-rayed in his office and found it right away. a break in a joint on top of my foot with a small splinter. i was off work 4 weeks and in a cast. (i was a water meter reader at that time, so i walked all day)

Re: i have a stress fracture in my foot

Orthos are expensive and unless you feel you need surgery, probably not necessary. A podiatrist is a good option or your MD or chiropractor if they have x-ray. All in all recovery is usually 6 weeks, depending on what you do.

The preferred treatment is a a wrap and crutches for a couple weeks; then an ortho boot for a couple weeks; then light activity for a couple weeks.

That is if it is actually fractured and only a x-ray will show that.
