For you coffee freaks, where do you get your coffee if you get it anywhere but home?
I used to be obsessive about coffee - I would hardly ever drink anything that was not roasted in my garage. I would have an occasional Starbucks coffee.
Then, I began partaking in the office coffee - Maxwell House or Folgers. I got used to it.
Now my favorite coffee out is from McDonald's. Have I gone mad?
No you haven't. The local MickeyDees starting having Free Mocha Monday's about a month ago so I decided to drop in and give it a try. Besides home or the office, there's nowhere else I'd get my coffee now. I've tried pretty much every type of coffee they make and I've yet to find one I didn't like.
If I'm drinking coffee at the house, it's Dunkin' Donuts coffee I've bought at Kroger. It's the best i've found at the grocery store. I'm usually a dark roast guy, but their lighter stuff is pretty good.
I enjoy McDonald's coffee, so, no, you're not crazy for liking it. They've stepped up their game in the coffee department over the past year or so. I've heard good things about Dunkin Donuts' coffee, but have never had it. Starbucks is just too ridiculously expensive for me to enjoy anymore now that I have kids, but I used to enjoy the occasional caramel machiatto. Other than those options, I'm a coffee-at-home or coffee-at-the-office kind of gal and I like Community coffee or I have my dad ship me a few bags of Cafe Crema from Puerto Rico. Both are rich and dark and right up my alley.

Different strokes.....etc, but I'm still in the garage roasting my own. The consistently bad coffee from grocery shelves and dining facilities drove me to roast my own, trying to lock down a "decent cup of coffee". Some places are apparently trying to upgrade the coffee to where they're not awful, and yet I don't see myself abandoning the home roasting setup any time soon. I've been enjoying some Bali Blue Moon, city roast, lately that's really quite nice. In fact, I think I'll have a cup now.

No doubt, home roasting is the best coffee anywhere. When we had our first child, we had to give up some things - home roasting was one - at least temporarily until everyone was healed and all. Then the cylinder to our roaster broke. Real roasters are not cheap, although I have heard that the West Bend Poppery Popcorn popper works great for coffee.
What kind of roaster do you use, and from where do you order your green beans?

Hearthware i-Roast 2, home roaster, about 150 bucks. Have used several sources for green beans, but settled on Coffee Bean Corral over near Meridian. Fast, order online and about 2 day service, and good folks, too. I went through 2 Zach and Dani roasters and fired them. The jump is large from entry level to next level roasting, at least to me. The i-Roast has been holding out pretty well.

Every day coffee: Whatever is on sale, Maxwell House or Folger's.
Weekends: Eight O'Clock bean(red bag), grind my own. Either that, or Community. They just started selling Community in these parts a couple years ago.
The big holidays, I splurge for Hawaiian Kona, direct from the source.
Usually have mine with a little half-and-half.
I've taken to drinking black tea while I'm on wilderness trips. I used to carry my French press, and got tired of people lining up and waiting for coffee in the morning. One of the guys actually asked why I stopped bringing my French press, and I told him it was because of people like him who kept thinking I was the coffee barrista of the group.

At home on the weekends, it Folger's, my wife likes the instant flavor stuff.
On the way to work, I stop and get a cup from the Shell station,
If I'm out with my wife, we have to go to Caribu Coffee or Starbucks. I guess our Mc D's coffee just stinks, cause we don't like it.
Someone needs to come to Manhattan, KS and open a Dunkin Donuts. I'm dying up here. I like their coffee too, but not one around.
I buy locally roasted whole bean coffee and grind it myself. Call me a wuss or foo foo or whatever, but I pretty much stick with flavored coffees--pecan, cinnamon hazelnut, sinful delight--usually those with some type of nutty flavor. I do enjoy Blue Mountain coffee and on occasion some types of Kona. Every now and then some chicory is nice too. And always with sugar and half and half. I'm by no means a coffee snob. I drink what I like and like what I drink.
If I buy away from home it is usually Starbucks or some hole in the wall cuban joint for cafe con leche.

Foo foo.
