Re: Super Filly, Rachel Alexandra !!!
She is AWESOME. Did you notice Jess Jackson trying to get some return on his investment with KENDALL JACKSON on Borell's pants? Makes you wonder if a special vintage of a KJ grand reserve will be named after her?

JJ can name anything he wants after her as long as brings RA back for her 4y/o season.
i talked to someone at the race. she dumped calvin in the post parade because macho again trotted by. she tried to light out after him then. calvin hammer-locked her and she got mad and threw calvin.
then past the finishline after the race as MA passed her, she dung down and went after him again!

Who do you think he'll breed her to in a couple of years...I would love to see what some of Big Red's traits and hers could produce.....
And keeping her in those mile & 1/8th races is her forte. Didnt see post race action, but that would have gotten me on my feet!!

if you mean Curlin, i can't see it. the horse would be WAY to Big. if you mean the GREAT Secretariat, that would have been interesting. her speed and his stamina.
for the east-west match up, zenyetta can't run down RA.

Daggonit...there was another red horse???? LOL.. Sometime, just to get emotional, I go back and watch the Belmont. My wife thinks I am a bit touched, but she has never ridden a horse.

Guys: I'm not big on horse racing but I love to watch the biggie races - e.g. The Triple Crown. However, after Barbaro got hurt and eventually had to be "put down" and Eight Bells was "put down" after the Kentucky Derby, when she came in 2nd., I'm afraid to watch races any more. Guess you could say, I watch with my hands over my eyes.

The racehorse Barbaro was euthanized Monday after suffering a series of complications from a leg injury incurred at the Preakness Stakes last year.
Veterinarians at the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center performed surgery on the horse Saturday night in an attempt to ease the weight load on his right hind leg, which had a painful abcess.
Barbaro won the Kentucky Derby last year and was a favorite to win the Preakness before he injured his right hind leg at the outset of the race. The injury ended his racing career, but a community of support gathered around Barbaro in hopes that he might make a recovery and live out his life peacefully.

I don't remember ever hearing about Ruffian, but I googled her and read up on her. Thanks for posting that comment.

how can you not watch Super Horse's triple crown races and not get emotional. especially the belmont and listen to that race call. also impressive is Secretariat's last race. the turf run at woodbine.

Barbaro was fortunate his owners and the means to try and save his life. the good that came from him surviving as long as he did will help other horses in the future.
Eight Belles was tough for everyone. 1 bad step turned into 2. it was tough for me, i got to meet her as a 2y/o, so i was on her bandwagon early.
the best horses the last few years have been fillies. Rags to Riches, Proud Spell, Eight Belles, Zenyetta.
