Anyone know anything about geneology resources?

Share

Check this out: I was born in 1957 19 days after my father (1933) turned 24.

My grandfather (1883) was fifty years old the year my father was born. I was 14 when my grandfather died at 89 in 1972. (Paternal grandmother passed in 1969).

From the census records in Morgan County, Alabama I know that my great-grandfather was born in 1850. He would have been 33 when my grandfather was born (he died shortly before my grandfather was born).

Also from the census records in Morgan County, Alabama I know that my great-great-grandfather was born in 1805. In the 1830 census he is enumerated separately as John Jr. along with John Sr. (great-great-great-grandfather) who as best I can tell was born in South Carolina sometime between 1780 and 1785.

So that is where the trail goes cold. I know that my great-great-great-great-grandfather was present on the east coast around 1780 and that he liked at least one particular girl.

Any ideas on how to pick up the next clue?

Re: Anyone know anything about geneology resources?

The best free source is the LDS Geneology Library, at least I think it is still free. The Mormons have the best records anywhere and the access is free, unlike Ancestory.com and others.

FamilySearch.org - Family History and Genealogy Records

I have done most of my family on both sides over the last 11 years. This site helped me do that. Good luck!
