ThumbsUp Allman Brothers concert

I just saw them last night at Merriweather Post in Columbia Md.and they were great as usual. Little different without Dickey Betts but they had Warren Haynes from Gov Mule and Derick Trucks both doing the lead slide. Widespread Panic opened up for them and they swapped guitar players back & forth. Looking at their site it appears that every night they totally change the set list. I see where they will be playing Birmingham this Friday & Saturday. If you like their style of music do yourself a favor and check them out.

Re: Allman Brothers concert

I'm curious to see the mix of crowd. How was it up there?

I saw Derick Trucks when he was with Clapton and I honestly thought he was better than Eric. I've seen Warren Haynes with DMB and he's awesome as well.

Man... I want to go!

At Merriweather there are seats in the pavilion and open seating on the lawn. I was in the lawn area and it was a very varied age grouping from teens through retirees. I would guess the pavilion seating was slightly older. This is their 40th anniversary tour so a good portion of those there were not even alive when Duane & Barry were.

Here is a list of the set lists from the most recent concerts:

Re: Allman Brothers concert

I was there for both nights. Friday Widespread Panic opened for Allman Bros Band. Saturday Les Brers opened for Widespread.

Setlist for 10/9 Friday:
Done somebody wrong
Come and go blues
End of the line
The Weight
Key to the highway
Rocking horse > jam
Dreams
Highway 61 (the Dylan tune)
Into the mystic (Van Morrison)
Leave My blues at home
Dreams
Melissa
Jessica
Encore: One way out

10/10 Saturday:
Midnight rider (missed due to incredible backup searching everyone entering)
Trouble no more
Can't lose what you never had
You don't love me
Soulshine
Stand back
It stoned me (another Van Morrison tune)
Revival
Statesboro blues
Mountain jam >Smokestack lightning (Howlin Wolf) > drum solos > Mountain jam
Encore: Black hearted woman

Widespread panic guests were on many of these songs.
The second night was way better in my opinion.
