I just know from personal experience.

But if proof is what you want, then proof you'll get:

Definitely a precedent established, but Nintendo's hesitance might be a sign that they will break that trend. Still, good money is on 199.99.

Nintendo also expects just less than stellar sales. So bumping the launch price to $229 doesn't seem to farfetched. I think $30 extra bucks for a brand new console is not too much to ask for. Within about 9-10 months after it's release, if the sales are picking up, then you'll probably see a $199.99 price tag.
