Xbox Live Game Lag

Share

I've been thinking about, maybe, getting Xbox Live for a few months now. I'll use it to play a few games, but mainly NCAA.

Can anyone tell me if the games lag up while you are playing online? If it helps, my internet connection usually runs in the ballpark of about 4 or 5 megabytes per second.

Re: Xbox Live Game Lag

In (my opinion) order of importance.

It really depends on the quality of not only your connection but the quality of the people you are playing with connection. Example - I play Forza2 with a group of friends every Wed night. There are a couple of people that can't host at all and one that lags and then drops out at least once or twice every night because claiming to have a 10mb connection.

After that, it depends on how good the netcode is for the game you are playing. Example - COD4 and Halo 3 have great netcode. These are intensive games that have tons of information flowing. Meanwhile, a remake of Frogger and Street Fighter II are barely playable online.

NCAA should be fine to play online for the most part I think.

Oh, and if you're looking to get Live, check out Buy.com and Newegg.com for the Live 12+1 cards. You can get 13 months of Live for $39.99 (or less if you use Google Checkout for the first time) versus paying $50 for 12 months.
