Well I will finally get to see one as it happens. Looks like I missed a good one last night but it came out great for the good guys.
There was a lot of talk, last night, about Amanda Locke. She was recruited for her bat as much as for her pitching. The red shirt last year was a big deal for her maturity. She will be a force for us the next four years in both areas of the game.
I can't wait to see the pitching match up between Georgia and Washington in the first game. Washington can ill afford to take a loss to UGA (which IMO is possible) but with us coming up right after, they have some tough pitching decisions to make. Taking two more losses would be worst case scenario for them.
As far as our pitching goes in the Washington game; do we go with Dunne again and allow Washington to see her a second time? Or, Morgan to give them another look?

RTR!
I think we go with Dunne again if Washington goes with Danielle Lawrie. Runs will be scarce against Lawrie so we have to keep their bats quiet.
Of course, a split with U-Dub wouldn't be as damaging as a loss to Baylor, so Murphy could decide to take our chances with Morgan or Locke in the 1st game and hold Dunne to go against (presumably) Whitney Canion in our 2nd game.
First Game (Georgia vs. Washington) is under way and Danielle Lawrie is pitching for the Huskies. If she goes the distance, she probably won't pitch against the Tide in game 2.
BTW - Former All-American and Huskies SID for softball, Rosie Leutzinger, is doing a live chat/commentary from the game at GoHuskies.com
This game is looking like a pitching duel with only 1 player reaching base (on a walk) thru two innings. Lawrie has 4 Ks to Hamilton's 3. The Huskies loaded the bases (HBP, walk, FC) in the top of the 3rd, but it's still no runs, no hits, and no errors for both teams thru 2-1/2.
U-Dub gets a lead-off homer by Watson in the top of the 4th to break the stalemate. Watson hits her 2nd solo homer of the day to give the Huskies a 2-0 lead in the top of the 6th.
Lawrie pitchers her way out of a two on, no out jamb (did give up a walk to load the bases after 2 outs) to keep it at 2-0 thru 6. Lawrie mows down the Dawgs in the 7th to finish with 10 Ks. Final: 2-0 Washington.
Props to UGA's Christie Hamilton who held the Huskies to 3 hits. She pitched a great game except for 2 gopher balls.

I think that you are right. But, can Washington afford to go with Harris against UGA? UGA has the potential to beat her and I don't think they can afford to lose that game heading into the game with us. I also beleive that they do not want to lose to us a second game so they may well decide to go with Lawrie against us. It will be an interesting decision.
Then Murph has to decide if he wants to show them Dunne again. That has its downside because there is a good possibility that we could face them again in the Super Regional or WCWS (if we both get that far) and familarity breeds contempt.
Looks like (on TideTV) that the grounds crew has got the field ready and game 2 should be starting shortly.
Apparently, Lawrie will pitch back-to-back games for U-Dub, Morgan will pitch for Bama.

Hmmm, not surprised to see Morgan pitching. As I said I don't think Murph wants them to get too familiar with Dunne.
I am only mildly surprised with the choice of Lawrie against us. Yes, she is pitching back to back but they had a problem no matter which way they did it. I still don't think Harris beats UGA and we shall see if Lawrie tires against us.
I think they are hoping she will last 4 innings. I am not there but I suspect they will keep Harris warmed up and won't let us get to Lawrie too bad. This is the best stratagy for them and it may work or it may not.
We could have helped our cause with some clutch hitting last inning. Can't pass up too many innings like that.
