Ask 0 for 6 in opening games of World Series - Why???

Share

What is up with our girls? Every year Coach gets them to the WS, but we fall flat on our rear ends and lose to lesser teams. Are they too tight? Are they overlooking the opening team? What is it? With Kelsi's arm having some pain (per ESPN during the game) in her throwing arm, should Coach have kept her out of game 1? Any thoughts???

Re: 0 for 6 in opening games of World Series - Why???

I don't know what it is but I sensed it in the first at bat for us last night. We sat there and watched strikes...it is like we forget what got us here and then when we fall behind, we wake up a little and too late. Michigan was aggressive from the beginning and it paid off for them.

This seems to happen every year at the WCWS...I am glad they are there. It is like we are satisfied with just getting there.

Re: 0 for 6 in opening games of World Series - Why???

I agree Rev...the girls sat there with a bat on their shoulders and watched to many strikes last night. Kelsi was also seemed very frustrated with the homeplate umpire as well...and never adjusted to the strike zone he was calling when she pitched...it did seem to me that the umpire was very inconsistent and that the Michigan pitcher was getting strike calls that Kelsi didn't get on pitches in the same spot. I sure hope the girls feel a sense of urgency saturday night or they will be coming home!

Re: 0 for 6 in opening games of World Series - Why???

I thought the strike calls were questionable at best when Kelsi was pitching. With that said, we let a lot of obvious strikes go by while the bat was on the shoulder. Michigan was swinging at anything they could from the beginning. There are times when the coach is helpless. I thought that was true last night. This one had nothing to do with coaching but with execution from the players. Maybe we will get a better effort from the beginning from the girls against Arizona.

Big A Re: 0 for 6 in opening games of World Series - Why???

The only time I came out of my seat was in the 5th when the Michigan pitcher hit 3 and loaded the bases with 2 outs. Our batter comes up and swings at the 1st pitch - grounding it to the pitcher. If I'm their hitting coach, I never want to see a swing at a 1st pitch in that situation.....but that's me.

Re: 0 for 6 in opening games of World Series - Why???

I see a lot of similarities between Bobby Cox and the Braves and Coach Murphy and the girls softball program. Great teams, great regular season, post-season disasters. I hope he can change that perception, but they look like they are behind the eight ball again in this WCWS.

14-0 over Arizona in game two ain't a bad way to bounce back.
