Obama and Geithner have had more face time than Dr. Phil or Oprah.

Every time you turn on a news channel there they are again lecturing the world about how bad the US. is and how we are the fat boys of the world and we have got to slim down.

4 more years of this is going to get old in a hurry.

Not only that, he uses the salad fork instead of the dinner fork, he greets foreign leaders funny, his wife hugged the Queen the other day, his cabinet nominees made mistakes on their tax forms.

The international news and every major news outlet that I've seen in the past week has given Obama very positive reviews on his performance at the G-20.

He made Sarkozy do a 180 within the span of 3 days and achieved nearly every objective on his list with G-20 nations. He also handled the international press corps very well, which is notoriously difficult for a U.S. president.

The only thing I haven't agreed with in recent days is our vocal warnings of North Korea, though I'm sure we're doing it on account of Japanese requests. If it is in fact a communication satellite, I think the discussions on firing the rocket could be handled through backdoor means. I mean, they're going to launch it anyway, when we come out with warnings before hand it just shows we have been publicly disregarded.

Great, the stock market is up. Is there anybody here who thinks that the stock market was permanently down? That it would not eventually rise again regardless (or perhaps in spite of) the Administration efforts? And if the stock market rises because the government is essentially printing money to take the toxic assets off balance sheets, am I really better off once the inevitable inflation hits? And have we really helped the credit market when the Fed has to drastically raise the interest rate to try do control inflation? Think the Carter years for an example.

As I and many others have repeatedly said here and many other places, the fact is that every now and then you need a forest fire to come through and clean everything out. If you see the fire starting and you are somehow able to put it out, great. But all the fuel for the fire is still there, and there will be a worse fire later. I've seen this with several incidents in my lifetime, like the S&L crisis, the recession of 89-91, the tech bubble, and now the housing bubble. The current economic climate, though painful, is a great lesson for many including myself.

If you are going to have capitalism, you have to take the bad with the good, which means you have to endure things like economic downturns. It hurts, no doubt, but it is a necessary evil to remind us that bad things happen when we get too greedy and don't follow sound risk management practices.

I'm impressed with how BO is handling the North Korea missile launch issue. He has promised to send them another harsely worded piece of paper from the UN if in fact they go ahead with yet another fireworks test. And this after 6-7 final warnings saying we will be disappointed in the pot-belly dictator if he doesn't abide by the world consensus. I don't know about you, but if I were Kim I would be very very afraid.
