Time for Alabama to begin conference play against #10 ranked Arkansas and prove to the country we are #1.

The game thread is not a place to vent your frustrations that other board you belong to is the place for that. All board rules apply and drive by smack talk will be dealt with pronto amigo.

I have on my crimson shorts, hounds tooth tee shirt, wife has on white Bama Polo and white shorts, Nina Dog has on Bama jersey and her Mohawk colored red and Peppy Dog has his I Hate Michael Vick shirt on with his black leather and chrome spike collar.

Pregame meal is BBQ Chicken, dirty rice dressing, mac&cheese, baked beans, french bread and buttermilk pie

Game snacks are popcorn & cold beer and maybe an ice cream cone.

Kick back and enjoy, this should be a good one along with the South Carolina / Allbarn game later.

Maybe it's me, but this has been the most annoying week of hype since the Ole Miss game last year. I'm glad it's here. I'm glad we are 10 hours away from putting this upstart to sleep, and I'm ready to move on to......

'Morning, all! Up & @ 'em here in the land of exile. Regrettably, mrs. exiled had to roll out to work half an hour ago, so it'll be just me & Sam the dog for most of the game (she'll be back late in the 2nd half, & has requested regular texts updating her on the situation). Sam's snoring on the couch; he's pacing himself to give it his all @ game time. Coffee is on board, although sadly, @ the bottom of my 2nd cup, I discovered that we had suffered a catastrophic filter failure. Nothing like a big ol' swallow of grounds in that last sip...:frown: :D

Last night, I watched my kids' HS alma mater *destroy* their homecoming opponent with a power running game that controlled the clock, precision passing that kept the D off balance, good special teams play (incl. a 70-yard punt return to the house), and a stifling defense that had added a couple of new blitzes that the opponent had no answer for...I consider all of that foreshadowing... ;)

A friend from here & his new bride are @ the game, tho they'll be woo-pig-sooey'ing. When she heard this about the guy (we're both fond of him & his new bride), mrs. exiled said "well, I 'spose everyone's entitled to one big character flaw..." She's a good woman!

Off to weedeat & mow a bit...which will take my mind off of that last swallow of coffee. :biggrin:

I've got pork chops on the grill now. Got pigs in a blanket (we cheated and bought Sister Shuberts rather than make our own) waiting for mid day, and ribs waiting to go on about an hour before game time. LAWD! Bring on the piggies!
 
Just once I would like to travel to bayou island and eat a pre game meal with bayou ;)

I'm thankfully not traveling this weekend so I can enjoy the full day of football!

Looking forward to another day of watching some good football, capped by a 'Bama victory over the hogs. My daughter will be cheering on the Tide at the game today, sure wish I was. I think it is going to be a sledgehammer fight, and arky is only bringing a mallett. ;)

Last week was almost perfect, 'Bama won, the vols lost, Notre Dumb lost on a magnificent piece of trickeration, and clemson was within an eyelash of providing the cherry on top. Here's to another chance for a clean sweep.

I'm here! Had a couple of PMs to reply to, and now, it's game day! If arky loads the box, Greg will make'm pay with the pass, if they play us honest, we'll run at will..from what I saw from arky lat week we'll run at will even if they do load th box! :biggrin: In my honest ,most pessimistic opinion, I make it a 3 touchdown beatdown! I'm up but still in Santa Cruze. Folk on the left coast have some strange thinging on football. Page six of the sports page????????
 
The question for me in this game is how many points can the Arky offense realistically be expected to score against Bama's defense? A lot has been made about our inexperienced secondary. However, those are very talented and athletic players back there for Bama. I think this fact has been overplayed a good bit. This is still a Nick Saban/ Kirby Smart defense and with lots of future NFL players. Further more Arky might have a good passing attack, but they have no rushing game to speak of. I don't see how Arky scores anymore than 14-17 points, and that's giving them the benefit of the doubt. Bama however will slice right through the Arky defense. Bama wins 38-17.

ROFL, ESPN trying to pump Mallett up by putting up the statistic "Leads the nation in 2ND HALF pass efficiency." Stats at their finest... ;)
