Re: Urban Meyer to Step Down - AGAIN?

I copied Todd Wright's tweets in the other thread. Crazy stuff.

Being reported by a few people now. Brett McMurphy from AOL Fanhouse also reporting it.

Looks like the theories about Urban only being a figurehead this year might have been true. It would explain the 7-5 record.

Re: Urban Meyer to Step Down - AGAIN?

Oh for Pete's sake!

This man is as neurotic as they come.
I've heard rumblings all season that he was HC in title only. He barely recruited, didn't call plays, hardly anything.

I think when he stepped down last year, the administration talked him into staying just to save the recruits from that class and to give them time to line up another HC candidate. If a new HC is named relatively quickly, I'll feel like those rumblings had a lot of truth to them.

I also found his demeanor on the sidelines this entire season to be pretty odd. He barely seemed interested in some of the games.

Bingo. The gators I know would hardly acknowledge it, but anyone with any football sense could tell something wasn't right about this team.

Re: Urban Meyer to Step Down - AGAIN?

After the FSU game, Meyer looked like a Zombie. Even my wife said "He looks like he doesn't want to be there." After that whipping, I doubt he did! Still, he has not been his normal self all year. This would not shock me.

The loss of Tebow was more than he could bear..Maybe he just needs a change of scenery..Like maybe Michigan..Where he would be hailed as their "Savior" like he was at Florida until the last couple of years..I just don't see him retiring..

I hope it isn't health-related. Even though he's a tough competitor (when he's on his game), I hate to see him go. If he leaves I wish him well.

And assuming he goes, Mullen sure seems like the logical replacement.
