I don't see OU in the SEC. First, we will want to continue our annual games with both UT and OSU so adding an SEC schedule to those two would be brutal.
OU is working on it's own network and has stated that it expects to have it up and running this fall. We traditionally schedule a strong out of conference slate and we're really not hung up with our conference identity. After we complete our home/home with FSU this year, we have home/homes scheduled with ND, TOSU, Tennessee, and LSU as well as the back end of a home/home with TCU and a home/home with Army. Finally, we're working on a home/home with Nebraska down the road.
I still believe that if we do head for greener pastures, it'll be to the Pac-12 as part of a future Pac-16, with OU in an eastern division with the Arizona schools, CU, Utah, and 4 former Big 12 south schools.......UT, A&M, TT, & OSU.
Keeping the Big 12 south in tact while joining the Pac-12, keeps us with high visibility in our prime Texas recruiting area while opening up southern California to us. The wealth of talent in the San Diego/L.A. area is much more vulnerable than any possible recruiting area we might try to exploit in the south.
We have occasionally gotten kids out of Arkansas, Louisiana, Georgia, & Florida but they've been few and far between.
I'd love to be in the SEC from a fans standpoint but strictly in terms of what's in the program's best interest, I think a Pac-16 makes more sense.
It would be easy for me to retort in the manner of some irrational fan and say anytime, any place but I honestly assume your comment is simply the typical football forum rhetoric.
I've seen OU play Alabama twice in the past 10 years, & we won both games but I'm certainly not about to make some outlandish statement about our superiority or willingness to again say, anytime, anyplace.
Alabama is the only school in the SEC who's history and tradition is at least the equal of OU's. I mean, until Spurrier won an NC in '96, the only thing the Gators were known for was an energy drink.
Let's just leave it @ this......I think we could compete nicely in the SEC but I think a Pac-16 alignment would be better for us in the long run. We'd be in the only major conference that dominated the entire western half of the country. TV rights and incumbent televison markets would be over the top.

I'm thinking if the SECW got A&M and OU and the Barn went to the SECE division the west would be even tougher and the east would stay about the same in terms of toughness....
Bottom line, with this type of change, it would be harder for Bama to get to Atlanta each year....
(W)e can be confident the SEC officially offered two schools last summer, -- A&M and Oklahoma, the two principal rivals of Texas. (The Longhorns may well have had an outstanding offer as well, but Texas was afraid of competing with real football schools and preferred to remain outside the conference so the SEC didn't believe it was interested in joining).
Living in Houston and having a son attending TAMU, I encourage Mike Slive to move quickly in grabbing TAMU. For those in Alabama and the rest of the SEC, TAMU is dymanic research university with over 50,000 students and an alumni base second to none. Slive must realize that too get TAMU, he must extend offers to Baylor and Texas Tech as well for the politics to work. IMHO, Slive should offer Baylor, Tech, TAMU, Missouri invites. Why? Let me explain. There is some very big Texas money at Baylor and Tech. The politicians in Austin who love Baylor and Tech would not let it happen. Period. Baylor is a Vanderbilt. Great Law school and Med School. Tech with 30,000 students is a great engineering school and has huge connections in the oil and gas industry and does TAMU. Missouri which borders 4 SEC states would bring St. Louis, Kansas City and the Midwest into the SEC Family. Missouri is sick and tired of Texas and would love to join the SEC if given the chance. Forget OU, They suck UT's Tit and would never do anything UT does not give approval too. I sincerely hope Mr. Slive reads this post. This is a great change to make the SEC a intersectional conference. Be bold Mr. Slive and make this happen.
Roll Tide
If this were to happen, who else would the SEC get? You would need 7 teams in each division.
