Aub fans are turning against their coaches

I just went on the Aub board to see how bad the meltdown is, and they are calling for all of the coaches to be fired. They have turned on them all. They say that now they see why Cheezit is 5-whatever, GM's offense is too soft, and Roof is awful. Well...I am really happy that our Crimson Tide layed the wood and did not let up. RTR!

Not going to pull any punches... Gus is a genius when he has fig newton running plays. I could go call plays and win games with the Fig as my QB. Roof has had a notoriously bad defense during his entire tenure at Aub, it's just more apparent now when we don't have an offense to score more than our defense allows. Tonight in the IB though the blame is squarely on the offense. The D worked with what it had but it was practically on the field for the whole 60 minutes. No QB was developed it appears and blame for that lies right at the feet of the coaches. The players seemed really energetic and motivated... but unorganized. I have watched the football program at USA from day one and saw how discipline can make or break a team. Alabama is a great team and championship-worthy this year, but some of the foul-ups we've seen as Aub fans are just silly. There was a time when WDE didn't mean Worst Defense Ever. For the record, I never went around singing any of our coaches' praises during our NC year. There were many times things just fell apart and the Fig would turn something out of nothing. I don't necessarily want our coaches heads delivered to me on a platter but I do think they would do well to re-evaluate some of their coaching philosophies.

I agree Roof should have been fired before he was hired.....lol

But if the barners get their wish and Gus leaves and/or is fired, what are they doing to do? They'll HAVE to hire a spread type coach, or they are just asking for trouble. Let's say they hire a McElwain clone and install a pro-style offense, they don't have anywhere near the talent to do that and will sure enough be in the drums. Things are going to get interesting the next few years down in the pasture.

Gus strikes me as the fellow with potential but just isn't quite there yet... nor does he really seem to adapt well. But that's why I'm studying chemistry and not coaching, folks. :)

They are realizing what they couldn't see next last year. They were a poor fundamental team last year, that was able to overcome it by having a huge number of experienced seniors, and very a good QB, WR, and DT. They tackled poorly, were heavily penalized, and the majority of their big plays were broken plays that Cam Newton made by sheer athletic talent. Their overhyped coaching staff caught lightning in the bottle last year, but their 15 minutes of fame over. A lot of their fans realize this, and it scares them to death.

Auburn's defense did the best they could. They kept the team in the game at halftime (scoring the only first half points), but were worn down, Richardson's run pretty much summed that up. A late in the game romp over a worn out defense.

Should have heard them during the game. I was having a hard time containing myself and not laughing out loud.

It's going to be hard to fire Chiz since he does have the NC trophy, no matter how tainted. How many former coaches can they keep on the payroll? And they'll have to find another Lowder-Dye-"yes"-man.

True, but first downs say a somewhat different story. You are correct that time of possession was very similar and I misspoke, but I still hold that the Aub offense did the defense no favors. Even silly things like "intangibles" such as making Bama play to have to score instead of run conservatively would have been nice.

That's the truth!!! I remember saying last year after they won the BCS that Cheeze would get exposed in time and they'd be calling for his head. Didn't realize it would happen less than a year from when he raised the crystal, but today many are saying it.

They truly caught lightning in a bottle last year and you know what they say about lightning??? It doesn't strike twice in the same place!!!

Hey ALUM these are the stats I am looking at. We had 35 rushing attempts and so did Auburn. We had 18 pass attempts and Auburn had
11. The only difference to me appears to be execution and I cannot blame the fans. It has to do with recruiting character as well as talent.
The same applies to coaches.Chizik is an average coach and that is the point. I could not believe he was hired unless it was as a YES MAN.
The assistant head coach is a joke and I would almost bet you know that as well. You make some good points and so do the fans. I know there will be some coaching changes in store for AU and it will be interesting to watch in the coming months. Roll Tide and WDE.

@Tidehawk You may not have to wait until Tuesday.

Auburn beat writer David Morrison:
"Gus Malzahn waits for Ted Roof on way off field, gives a strong handshake. Roof returns with a pat on the back. Certainly looked a goodbye."

@Longcolt

Yes, execution was a big difference here. We could go on all day about why the execution was poor. Its just my opinion that the blame is laid squarely on coaches in college football. Never blame the kids. The coaches recruit, the coaches develop, and the coaches coach. You have fine points as well and that's why I like coming to this forum. Ignorance begets ignorance and I won't get any opposing view points to enlighten me on forums with people who agree with me. Get to NOLA and teach the honey bonger some class.
