In a dream world
I've been to some cold games, games that maybe werent that cold but the rain and drizzle made it seem worse. But the coldest game I've ever been to was at the Senior Bowl the year Tim Tebow played.I had gotten 4 free tickets from a buddy of mine and invited a couple that I was friends with as well as my girlfriend at the time. I also thought it would be romantic if I rented a room for my gf and I at a bed n breakfast on Dauphin Island, right on the water(what isnt right on the water on Dauphin Island). We came well prepared or so I thought. We had jackets, scarfs(no the scarfs weren't for me), blankets and we still froze our butts off. The wind coming off the GOM sent cold straight to our bones, there was no stopping it. We,luckily(yeah right) got to sit next to this 20 something year old blonde who apparently was in love with TT and gave all the TT haters such a mouth full that a sailor would have been proud of her passion.

So after we plied our frozen butts off the metal benches we decided to go eat some seafood and then head in for the night. We had a few dozen oysters, some crab legs and called it a night. Now I had seen pictures of this Bed N Breakfast online, had even talked to the owners(who by the way were a charming older couple), and the place looked great......online. In reality it was a 40s BNB whose best times lay behind it. The couple had done as good a job as could be done and certain parts of it were in great shape. However whatever changes they had made, the changes they made to the heating system were NOT enough. Our room overlooked the water so we had this nice 20 mile an hour constant breeze that made everything that much colder. And our heat for the night? This little bitty plug in heater that we couldnt figure out how to get to work as hard as we needed it to work. The thing about it was, is that it was like the first ever remote controlled plug in heater. One that may have been made in the 70s. Im sure some of you think that the new stuff is hard to program but let me tell you stuff made in the 70s n 80s were even worse.

I think the only time we were warm was on the drive over to Mobile and back. Six hours out of a three day weekend we were warm. To tell you the truth though it was cold as something I can't say on this forum, we had a lot of fun. We made some great memories, had a little bit of adventure and many laughs.

And that my friends is my story about the coldest game/BNB I've ever been to :)

Coldest Bama game I ever went to was the 2000 Iron Bowl (?) the 9-0 game. It was the most miserable day of my sports-going life. Coldest game period I have ever been to was the Steelers/Ravens game about a month ago on Sunday nite in Pitt. It was comfortable that day, but the sun went down and the wind started blowing off the river and it was bad.

I was at the 9-0 Iron bowl and while it was miserable, it was not really in my top 3-4 cold games. I think the 92 SEC Champ was colder, but not nearly as miserable. The coldest TWO games and is is hard to distinguish, are the 76 Liberty Bowl against UCLA (probably THE coldest) and the first Music City Bowl against Va. Tech (easily the most miserably). Freezing rain all and I mean all game long and we lost. In Vandy stadium too.

1976 and 1982 Liberty Bowls. I can remember buying hotdogs with my dad and getting to our seats and they were already stone cold. We were using paper grocery bags to put our feet in to stay warm (some fans near us brought extra)! The wind coming off of the river in December is no fun!

Back when I was a Scoutmaster of a local troop in Mobile, I would take my scouts to the GMAC bowl every year. We saw it the time, I think it was Marshall, that game time temp was in the mid 20's. Most miserable time I have ever had in my life, as far as temps, but the boys had a great time.

Mine was also a Senior Bowl. Don't remember the year, but it was sometime in the 80s. A friend and I were given tickets. The temp during the game was about 15 degrees, the wind was out of the North about 15-20 mph and we were sitting in the south endzone. Blowing right in our faces. We kept going for hot chocolate to try to warm up.

The coldest Alabama game ever:

December 29, 1998 Music City Bowl in Nashville.

What made the game seem COLD and miserable:
1. The freezing, misting rain that kept on the entire time
2. The shocking outcome on the field and Va. Tech's fans making fun of us in my section
3. The girl I was dating, met a friend and his daughter there - who is a big, big Hokie fan & grad)
4. Those metal stands (bought 2 vandy cushions sold outside the stadium though)
5. The walk back to the car

What made the game somewhat bearable. The girl I was with was 'well quite very nice'.

But it was cold!

College was the 1996 Cotton Bowl. My wife had just started working for Southwestern Bell and we got some freebie tickets for Colorado vs Oregon. It was 40 with rain and a steady wind that turned to sleet. It was also memorable because I got to see Ralphie run out onto the field, which was pretty cool. Right after that the Oregon cheerleaders put some ropes on the duck mascot and ran him around the field.

Pro was Dallas and Miami on Thanksgiving in 1993. It was somewhere in the 20's and sleeting/snowing. The wind was also horrible, and yes, the old Texas Stadium had a roof but there was a tremendous draw near the tunnels to the concession area. It was like being in a wind tunnel. I got to sit in that for 3 hours to see Leon Lett's brain fart from the 35 yard line. Then I had to trudge a mile to my car.

As others have already posted, the 1998 inaugural Music City Bowl (although us former band members had a slightly different name for it that I can't post) was my coldest game experience. We had to get there days ahead of the game and practice in Vandy's stadium. They had the ice scraped off to the sidelines the night we had to practice. We had to sit around and wait for the halftime talents (a gospel choir, Lorrie Morgan [who drove her heated limo out onto the field] and Steve Winwood) to practice while we held our spots on the field. After about 2 hours of torture, we left before Steve Winwood could even warm up. The hokie band followed us out. The night of the game was awful with the constant sleeting and the game itself. We couldn't wait for it to be over. Coldest game I can remember - I was also at the 9-0 Auburn game in 2000 but was under the upper deck ceiling so that helped a lot.
