Really like getting this verbal commit from Demarcus Walker. Let's hope he stays true and signs with Bama in Feb.

Most of that was pushed by ESPNU. not unusual for our commits to take more visits. It sounded like he was certain where he wanted to go.

I hope he ends up as a DE for UA. We've got so many players that are Jack LB molds but UA could use a good pass rushing DE to compliment the Jack LB. Imagine Walker at DE with Allen behind him or next to him at Jack LB just from this class. Looks great on paper.

Read that he's already got a sack and tackle for a loss in tonights game and didn't play the 2nd half b/c they were up enough. He flashed the A gloves after each big play.

guess it all comes down to how big he gets. i read that he has brought his weight down to 265. if he gets in the alabama program and blows up to 300 he will probably play end, but if he went to the barn he would be a tackle from day 1. they dont play ends over about 250 lbs. i think he will be great where ever he plays. Im not really concerned about him playing end because we brought in so many players that project well at that position in the last class

I read that he weighed 280lbs at the Opening and didn't lose any speed at all so if he put on some weight, he could still be very effective.

Walker is a standout player, legitimately one of the top 30 or 40 prospects in the country. Big pick-up for us, and someone who could do very well in our scheme.

That said, I know he "committed" and all, but frankly I'm not looking at this like he's a solid commitment. He's still taking official visits and it's pretty clear that he's going to listen hard to what other schools continue to say as they recruit him. By no means is he shutting his recruitment down, and he has made that very clear.

I hope he sticks, but just so we're clear I largely view us as his leader more than him actually being a firm commitment. In my book, he's a commitment-in-name-only at this point, and I think the staff will keep recruiting him as such.
