If she got blown out into the Gulf, I think she could float. Why they won't position her so that the wind blows her top off I'll never know. I mean, at the absolute least, she should be wearing a mini skirt.

The weather folks here in Birmingham are telling us not to breathe a sigh of relief just yet as we have yet to feel Isaac's real effects. Good thing I went ahead and stocked up on game day items for Saturday, because the grocery stores are just about cleaned out around here! Not to mention, my employer knee jerked big time and sent everybody home yesterday, and we aren't working today either. Even tomorrow is still up in the air. All the while, the sun is shining on Birmingham! LOL.After landfall it was supposed to turn north and then eventually go northeast through the Jackson,Ms and the north Alabama area but a high pressure system kind of stalled it and forced it more westerly. By the time it clears that system it will probably go more north than expected before turning northeast, so you may not be affected all that much.
I'll say this though, this storm has been anything but predictable so you better hold on to that milk and bread lol
sip
Whacks me off is we (tax payers) get to pay for the idiots being rescued. (not to mention people have to risk their lives to save them..) sorry if that sounds mean hearted but, they were told to get the heck out and didn't. At a minimum they should be forced to repay for the cost of resources used. The levees have been topped in Plaquemines Parish in SE LA. Numbnuts who chose not to evacuate DESPITE mandatory evacuation for that parish, are having to be rescued.
GAWD, I hate stupid people!![]()
Dude they missed the track a little. La., Ms., getting pretty hammered. You just playing right?Okay, the jig is up! I think we have been had. At this point, I believe that something is going on in Washington DC and Isaac was created to divert our attention. How else do you explain it? Remember the movie Wag the Dog? The movie where a spin-doctor and a Hollywood producer join efforts to "fabricate" a war in order to cover-up a presidential sex scandal. Yep. It's got me thinking alight. In all seriousness though, the reason I say that is because I can not ever remember one tropical storm,(let alone a hurricane) hitting the gulf coast and Birmingham not getting a drop of rain off of it.
You may be on to something. But, to my knowledge the Halliburton Hurricane Making Machine was retied and placed in The Smithsonian, as part of the Civil Rights exhibit. No?Okay, the jig is up! Yep. Just being a smart alec! Birmingham and Montgomery were (and presumably still are) "under the gun" with this thing. The grocery stores were packed out yesterday and I am sitting at home right now because my employer cancelled work for two days due to Isaac. Our weather folks here in the ham were making this thing sound like a category 7 monster with razor blade rain drops. I know it's no picnic for the folks in Mississippi and Louisiana, but they made it sound like B'ham was going to get taken off the map. Heck, they're still trying to save face by telling us that "it isn't over", and to not "drop our guard just yet", etc. This is quite typical of our local weather media.Dude they missed the track a little. I'm hearing that only sections of the road were damaged badly now. Hopefully that's correct. I know most of the people near the beach did indeed elevate but a few simply rebuilt thinking they were far enough away. That's too bad if they got water but you're correct, sometimes you have to learn learn learn.Sip, anyone who didn't rebuild higher up should have known this would happen again. It's a shame when folks don't use common sense. I'm not surprised to hear about Front Beach. We were over there around 1pm yesterday and the water was already coming onto the road. Water is all the way up to I-10 over at exit 13 (hwy603) in Waveland/Bay St Louis. ALL the low-lying areas on the coast are totally under water and will be for another day or two. Hell, the Biloxi and Tchoutacabouffa Rivers won't even crest until tomorrow! All those beautiful homes over on the Jordan River are already flooded, and it's only getting worse.
It's no Katrina, but Isaac is causing lots of headaches and I have to wonder when people are going to stop trying to live near the water without being properly elevated. It's a futile endeavor, to put it mildly.
Same thing here in Montgomery, happens all the time not just with Isaac. WSFA likes to preempt TV shows for thunderstorms... you know, just some lightning and rain but, they act like death is at our door steps. I've even seen WSFA cut in on a show to report about weather outside there viewing area, if those folks can't see your report the only thing you accomplish is upsetting your audience. The weather reporters in Montgomery have huge egos, they think they are the kings of TV and, I truly believe that they slip into comas if they go just a few days without getting in front of the camera for some weather drama. It's gotten so bad here with WSFA that I don't like to watch NBC programming because, if it is cloudy outside you know there is going to be a weather bug or Rich Thomas interrupting your shows. This morning they said we would get some bad thunderstorms, high wind and possible tornadoes today; it has rain for only about 15 minutes and was a pretty light rain, hardly any wind. It drives me up a wall and Isaac is just another example of how badly they missed the mark.Yep. Just being a smart alec! Birmingham and Montgomery were (and presumably still are) "under the gun" with this thing. Let's just say I'm ready for the rain and wind to stop, the cats to go outside, the kids to go outside, the husband to go outside and ME to GO OUTSIDE!!!!! :biggrin2:Word is that we in H'burg broke the daily rain record today...and it's still raining. Of more significance (to me anyway), NOLA broke its daily rain record today! I'll give you one guess when the now-broken record was set: (hint: 7 years ago today)
That's pretty much all I have in response to "Well, it's just a Cat 1; no biggie"...*huge sigh*
Glad to be hearing from SD & 'Sip down south of us. Looks like y'all have had a rather interesting day...
You could send the Aubie outside now. Prolly oughta hold off on sending the cats & the kids & yourself though. :biggrin:Let's just say I'm ready for the rain and wind to stop, the cats to go outside, the kids to go outside, the husband to go outside and ME to GO OUTSIDE!!!!! :biggrin2:
