Question: any believers in mythical creatures?

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

that is the saddest part of this, TLC, History and Discovery used to be great. Now it's Honey Boo Boo, Ancient Aliens and fake monsters

At least we still have 90% of the Science Channel
I like the Science Channel but, my wife and i watch the Smithsonian Channel all the time, it reminds me of what The History Channel use to be like.

Although, every-now-and-then you can still catch a good show on History. Recently they aired a show called Star Trek: Secrets of the Universe that was really interesting. It had a good mix of behind the scenes look of the new Star Trek Into Darkness and a lot of interview with real scientist discussing the real science and plausibility of Star Trek tech. I don't have much problem following scientists talk but the one thing I continue to not be able to wrap my head around is time dilation. It just blows my mind that, if you could travel at or close to the speed of light, that time would slow down. So, if you took a 60 year round trip at light speed, 200 years would pass on Earth (I made the numbers up, I don't know the real math). I love space science, even if I don't understand it all.

Here is the show online if anyone is interest: http://www.tidefans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=197015&p=2161575&posted=1#post2161575

How many of you believe a talking snake talked a woman into eating forbidden fruit and giving it to her husband to eat thus bringing sin on the rest of us? What about a man and his wife, son's and daughter in laws building a boat and gathering animals from all corners of the Earth on to it to survive a flood that covered Mount Everest? Then there is the one about the man parting the Red Sea? The best one though is an invisible God inserting himself into the belly of a young Jewish virgin for 9 months, coming out suckling breast and pooping yellow before growing up to die for them sins the snake listening woman created! ;) Prove any of those and then I may decide Bigfoot and Mermaids ain't real! :)

I actually love watching "Ancient Alien"..Pretty interesting show..I don't believe everything they say happened in the past..But..A lot of stuff that did happen in the past makes ya wonder how the hell they did it..

i have seen that a few times, i like it too. it is always confused me that we see some of that old architecture that is still standing and for us to actually say "we do not have the technology today to do that". I think ancient builders and architects and engineers just never had to deal with codes, building inspectors, zoning, permits, etc.

I've never thought about it like that..That actually has some merit to it..The one thing I can't figure out or really fathom..Is how did they cut the stones back then..They had no electricity..But..I don't see how they could cut those stones with such precision from the quarry without power tools..That boggles the mind thinking about it..

Likewise with A&E, which used to have shows that would actually qualify as the arts like what's shown on PBS Masterpiece Theater or PBS Mystery. Now A&E is mainly a crap channel with reality shows and the like.

i caught the star trek show and really enjoyed it. my wife even enjoyed it and she hates sciencey stuff and start trek. my high school physics teacher did a couple of classes on time dilation that were interesting, but i had forgotten about a lot of that stuff until watching this show.

Slaver labor helps. :)

Well you know, there's that Velociraptor in my basement but I'm not allowed to show it to anybody.

And there was one time when the guy with the hook was running along my car and we got away and when we stopped there was a hook in the door.

Only a human is so arrogant so as believe that "we" are the only intelligent beings on this planet.
I also watched part of the documentary about mermaids. Since this planet is covered more by water than by land, it only makes sense that there would be a human-like being swimming around out there somewhere.

I don't know about all of the paranormal or cryptozoology animals, but there has to be something to the Bigfoot thing.

Too many people have claimed to seen one. There are hundreds of sighting stories on different BF websites.

I just don't believe that many people would fake or lie about it.

And yes, I'm totally sucked into the Finding Bigfoot and all the other Bigfoot shows.

I don't believe in any of the mythical creatures named. I am willing to believe however that some of the mythical creatures are based off extinct species that looked or functioned similarly to them, possibly going back to our nomad days, and the tales of their "existence" have stayed around ever since. I also think that people have a part of them that is attracted to the primeval and the mystique associated with it.

Like rattlehead, I enjoy watching movies about such creatures. (troll hunters is a cool B movie on netflix right now btw)

If we find any mythical creatures they will have to come out of the depths of the ocean. Bigfoot would have gotten hit by drunk driver already.

My Pop (Grandfather) used to tell me about the PeeDo-Taker (aka - Penis Snatcher) -- when we were little boys.....if we peed outside......
